It's unbelievable that there isn't an anime for this yet. I know it's coming soon, but I just can't wait.

It's nice to see tosh grow as a mainstream shounen artist. It starts off with ecchi foodgasms, but its past that now. Just look at this art art2. The food art makes my mouth water too.

I also like how the male to female ratio is even. And how it uses ecchi "lightly" instead of having panties flash every second.

Yeah, it's an epic read and Souma is just such an interesting main character. When he switches from absent-minded youth to killer chef is just so entertaining.

Can't wait till Erina finds out who his dad is. The art is just outstanding too, the food makes me salivate at times ;_;

They're not all from Japan. The Aldini brothers are from Italy.

The food in the manga are based on actual recipes used around the world. They even had banh xeo at one point (Vietnamese dish in a Japanese manga? mind blown)

The dark-skinned chick wearing a stars + stripes bra is definitely ... japanese.

I'll be honest, I think that outside of its flashy artstyle (it is good, but I wouldn't really say unique), SnS doesn't actually have much going for it to make it stand out. I dropped it a while ago, so idk how any of the latest chapters have done things.

It operates pretty much like a typical fighting shounen, except fighting is replaced with cooking. The protagonist is a typical shounen MC striving to be the best, while already being better than pretty much almost everybody. It also follows the whole formula of constantly introducing new people for him to face; who seem to have their own "styles," for example, some guy specializes in Italian cuisine, another in making curry, and some girl knows a lot about meat dishes, and there's another girl who boils stuff, and one who studied Chinese medicinal cooking. Also, some of the "bad guys" have personalities so terrible that they don't even feel natural, and only remind you of Saturday morning cartoon villains, that is until they lose and for some reason become good guys, but until then there's no moral ambiguity with them; they're just total jerks. The competitions or challenges are also set up to look ridiculously difficult, such as the judges being super tough, or the time limit is short, or they have to find the ingredients for a dish themselves, etc. All of this is supposed to add thrill, but the problem is that in the end, Souma will just show off his awesome skills and end up winning regardless of the odds, and then throw in his signature catchphrase (**It wasn't much!**) to make himself look cool. I actually can't even remember any time where he lost against anyone but his father, who is made out to be some super amazing, world-class chef, so hooray for special parents! Not like we haven't seen that before.

It just all felt too cliche to me. I just don't think that it really stands out from any other shounen.

hell's kitchen should get an anime! it's just so much more earnest, relatable, and fun to read. i didn't like shokugeki, boring plot and mc, having read nobunaga no chef and hell's kitchen already, this mangas characters and setting felt forced and uninteresting in comparision... i would rather read yumeiro patissiere lmao. hope more people read the other cooking mangas out there. i guess it's more interesting to those who haven't experienced the genre beforehand.really all the other cooking mangas have delicious looking food and interesting food facts so...thats nothing new
