All Reality Shows Are Fake

All reality shows are fake and staged to give us the impression that it's reality, but in reality it's not reality.

I know a lot of you are going to disagree with me because you might watch a reality show and be thinking "there's no way it's fake, it's obviously real, no way they can just lie and mislead us like that", but I'm sorry to say you are wrong.

Survivor, Big Brother, Storage Wars, Jersey Shore, any reality show you can imagine is staged. (Storage Wars has actually admitted to being staged, and there have been contestants on Survivor who have come out and said that they are given real food and they don't sleep in those tiny bamboo shelters like the show makes you think)

Now there are different levels of how a show can be staged, when I say it's staged I'm not necessarily saying that they are all professional actors where every single thing they say is scripted, but a lot of the time the producers of the show will plan out what happens and what will be most entertaining for viewers and the people in the show will have to go along with it and make it happen. Or something else that often happens especially in shows like Jersey Shore is they will already know what they will do that day (for example go to this restaurant, go that bar, then go to that club), it's already preset by the producers, but on the show they have to make it seem like it's their own idea. Or they will be put into certain orchestrated situations but the stuff they say in those situations may or may not be scripted.

Shows like American Idol, The X Factor, and America's Got Talent are all completely staged. Notice how every episode just seems to be entertaining? It's because it's all set up to be that way, the judges already know what to expect from the contestants, so they order them in a way to have a couple of really bad people perform then someone really good perform to play on our emotions.

This might shock you, but the winners of these shows are picked at the very beginning and the whole "competition" is completely fake. For shows like American Idol where they make you think you are voting for a winner, that is not true. The judges decide who the winner is, that is their professional job. There is a popular vote and the judges may or may not take it into account but they don't have to, they pick who they think will be the most marketable given the current structure and dynamics of the music industry.

Do you honestly think they would be giving away million dollar contracts to just anyone? Just because people voted for them? No.

Game shows are different than reality shows, they are more real than reality shows and less scripted on the contestants part, but it is still staged to a great extent. TV networks only get a certain amount of money to give to their game shows, so they can't have people winning all the time or else they will go broke. They are given a set amount of money and they have to orchestrate the show in a way to spread it out. That's why on game shows there won't be a million dollar winner each episode, there will be like 1 or 2 a season, because it's all set up who wins and who doesn't.
