So now all hackers are botters too

I've always had a clear distinction in my mind that MapleStory has hackers and RuneScape has botters. Since RuneScape is made from Java and not really installed on the user's computer, hacking or any sort of exploit in its server is impossible. Instead, the rule breakers use automated software to perform actions, to basically play the game without human input. The monotonous part of the game isn't fun, so they use bots to play it for them.

Back then in MapleStory there weren't botters whose software played the game for them without any advantage over real players (hacking). Just hackers, and hackers weren't afk. They had their vac hack and their god mode and item vac hack and their their hit-anything-on-the-screen-regardless-of-location mode, but they still had to play the game themselves. Meaning that hackers saw when legit players were there, and would rage at the ksing/defame/etc. Later on I remember the power guard hack and the first making-all-items-drop-at-the-hacker's-location hack, so a hacker wanting to afk could put a stapler on top of their item pickup button.

But now, so far I've noticed that every single hacker is botting too. These maplestory bot programs didn't exist a while ago. Why did they only came out with them so recently? Not one hacker now has talked or made any indication that they noticed me ksing their stuff, defaming them, or looting them. Have they sunk that low?...

Also another pattern I observed is that they're all using the same hack/bot--vacuuming the monsters to one spot (the same for a certain map for all hackers), looting after every 2 spawns, occasionally going to town to do something, never getting hit by the monsters, all hackers guildless and titleless with retarded character names like qiurpueq, in low level equips, and so far, only arans and evans with their dragons. And when they travel they appear for a split second above a portal, then disappear. I was using a 1.5x coupon with the 2x event this afternoon at pirates and every minute one of the aforementioned hackers would show up briefly in the map above a portal which i presume was their hacking spot.

@management you got it backwards. botting isn't actually hacking into the game; rather the input comes from the computer on which the botting program is running. sometimes the bot may collect available information from the game like current health, number of monsters spawned, etc. But a bot cannot change anything--that's hacking.

Who cares if hackers are also botting or not.
They just want to leave their PC on and come back later and have their character high leveled with a ton of mesos without having to do anything at all.

They're breaking the game more than it already is broken and they should be killed.
...
Oh sorry, i meant, they should be banned.

You will see hackers in almost every game. The reason they do this is because most of them make cash off these kinds of games. Some of these guys make crazy money off these games, it's crazy really.

Bots were around for as long as I've played Maple... (Started a few months before first anniversary)

Actually I've seen some hackers with guilds and actual words for names. Everything else I agree with though. It's getting sad. At least in the old days there was some enjoyment in chasing down the hackers because they would see you and run when you tried to report them.
