So I Decided to Make a Dual Blade
At level 9 I got a quest involving me making the advancement to a Rogue and seeing Ryden. Then it occured to me: "What would happen if I tried to NOT advance as a thief?" So like if I were to sporadically pick something like Warrior instead.
Anyone know the answer to this?

I just checked by randomly trying to advance to a Warrior. Dances with Balrog said that my character was suspicious (lol!) and that that wasn't its path.
They will force you to become a DB.
