Can't turn on my desktop The warranty is already expired. My Dell Inspiron 530 barely ever turns off, but I never had problems like this before. I can't turn it on, pressing the power button won't even make the fans budge. When I plug in the power cord to the minitower, the light beside it turns green, indicating that it's successfully connected. When I open the whole thing up, there is a small and unnoticeable-from-the-outside yellow light on some chip thing that shines as well. Nothing happens upon pressing the power button though. One thing though, I do think I did something bad to cause this problem, I was moving my computer area and I was too lazy to turn off the computer via start -> turn off computer. Instead, I directly went to t

Keeping Laptop On Overnight Now I've left my desktop on overnight a LOT, but what about laptops? I am using an Asus G73SW laptop, and I am able to turn off the LCD screen without making the laptop go to sleep. So, should I leave my laptop on, or should I turn it off? Turning it off would require start up, which isn't that bad. But my computer's alarm is something I've relied on for a long time, and it's the loudest and most reliable alarm I know of. Sometimes my phone or iPod's alarm fail, or maybe I'm just sleepwalking and turning it off. But to use that alarm I need this laptop to be on. Is it good to keep it on? It'd be on for probably 3 or 4 nights a week in this case..

What is Conhost.exe Man, I just keep having problems with my computer tonight. So I backed up my computer after a bit of trouble, and it was working fine. Everything except iTunes. So I reinstalled iTunes, but it still won't open. On the task manager, it just opens briefly and closes again. No error message or anything. So I tried installing the 10.3 version, and that worked. But, it opened a LARGE tree of programs, one is AppleMobileDevice[something, I forgot], and the other is conhost.exe. What is this conhost.exe? The process was open literally over 20 times. After I end-processed it, it was gradually opening. Nothing else was found wrong except the fact that it was open a million times, and my computer was overclocking.

Is anyone elses Yahoo Mail acting weird? Lately my Yahoo! has been acting really strange. I have to describe it word by word, error by error, so it's not really easy googling it. Alright here's the problem: When I click mail, everything loads properly. As any Yahoo! Mail user knows, the mailbox is organized in a tabs-function, similar to internet browsers. You have a "What's New" tab, Inbox tab, Contacts, etc. Usually, when one clicks an email, a new tab opens and you are able to view the contents of the email. However, now, when I click it, the new tab simply opens. It cannot view the contents unless I click on the tab. It's the same as pressing CTRL+Click on a link. It opens a new tab but doesn't automatically switch to it. Also

ASUS G73SW always on Turbo Mode? I have no idea why, my CPU usage is literally at 4%, and the heaviest program I'm currently running is Skype at 86,416K, as compared to games like maplestory which would put it to several hundred KB. But, the fan is louder than normal, and my processor, which usually runs at 2.0 ghz (quad core), continuously runs at around 2.3 to 2.4 ghz. Now I know a higher ghz is a better processor, but I'm not running anything more than an online video, skype, aim, oovoo, and itunes. That sounds like a lot, but yesterday I was running google chrome, aim, skype, oovoo, itunes (those basically stay on all the time), painttool SAI, photoshop, several folders, microsoft word.. all at once. And it stayed at 2.0 ghz. It should

Task Manager Running Slow? So my computer is an Asus G73SW, and can run basically any game in the world on maximum graphics with 40 to 150 FPS (40 being games like Crysis Warhead). But for some reason, a lot of times, my Task Manager lags. A lot. Now during this time, I can open up anything and everything, from Photoshop CS5.5 to TERA Online to Vindictus to DAZ Studio 4 to all four of those together. And everything works fine. And yet the task manager lags. I restart the computer and everything is fine. But then after a while, task manager starts to lag again. This is also true for Media Monkey (iTunes alternative, my iTunes has problems). At first it works perfectly, and after a couple of days the songs begin to lag. I don't turn off my co

Do I have a VirusKeylogger I'm using an Asus G73SW computer. There's been a problem ever since I got it; making it sleep doesn't always work. When I press the sleep/hibernate button, the screen fades and the keyboard lights turn off, but then it just stays like that, the actual computer is still running, and didn't go to sleep. Once that happens, I can't do anything, so I'm forced to hold the power button and turn off the computer. Every time I did that, the computer started up fine. This time, however, it started by saying that I need to install an ATK0100 driver, which I did. Also, many of my installed programs are suddenly uninstalled or something. For example, Microsoft Silverlight, Mozilla Firefox, Starcraft2, AIM, etc. However, many o

Erasing my Hard Disk So I'm running a repair on one of my laptops, and all other options met with a hard drive failure error (options include factory reset and whatnot). The last option is to erase the hard disk entirely. It says "You will lose all data on the hard disk using this operation." I'm fine with my data being lost because that computer is only used for taking notes in class and I take all my notes on google documents so they never get deleted in circumstances such as this one. However, will doing this erase all the default disk settings of Windows as well? I don't want to have to purchase a Windows 7 installation disk. I'd rather just send the computer in to warranty repair.

Security for a computer? Not for spyware or malware, but for college. I'm going to college in a few years and I'm taking as many precautions as possible to protect or track my laptop (since it's large, great for gaming, and costs over $1.6k). I want to be able to really protect it. I've already spray-painted it to have my name and bought a locking cabinet and two chain-locks (that locks the cabinet to the bed, the bed to a desk, and the desk to a door). But in the rare yet possible event that someone does steal my computer, is there a way to track my computer down via wireless internet or something?

Computer performance decreasing? My desktop isn't very good for gaming, but it can still play games like Vindictus with a pretty high FPS. Well, it USED to be able to. Before, I was playing on max quality with 35 FPS, and 7/10 (or 9, I forgot) quality with 60+ FPS. My laptop can handle the highest demanding games with well over 100 FPS, but I cannot use it until i go to college this year, since my mom is afraid I'll break it before then (which is ironic, because it'll be with me every single day in college and probably has a higher chance of breaking...) Here are my specs for my desktop: Processor: Intel Core Duo, 2.8 Ghz (2CPUs) Memory: 6142 MB RAM Storage Memory: 9362 MB available, 3133 MB used. Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220, Appro
