Should I Register My Laptop?

I had a Pavilion Dv6 but it junked out. I had Best Buy's warranty plan which covered the damage and I was able to get a new laptop and a new warranty plan from the Geek Squad.

Anyways, I bought an ASUS K53E-BBR17 which is a great laptop. Now, my question is do I register my laptop as an ASUS laptop? Doing this will enable the manufacturer's warranty which is good for one year. Thing is, I already purchased a 2 year warranty with the Geek Squad which covers accidental damage as well. Is there any benefit to me registering my laptop? Should I do it even if it doesn't make a difference?

Thanks

Two things-

"I'm assuming..." Bad idea. Just when you need it, the warranty you assumed would work one way may leave you out in the cold if that's not how it actually works.

Also, what's the downside to registering the computer..? If it turns out later you had to, then you've got it covered. If you didn't have to do it, what are you out..?

It SOUNDS like the BB warranty will cover everything, but at least by registering the Asus warranty you've got those bases covered too.

See now heres where youre wrong with regard to asus laptops. All Asus laptops USUALLY come with a 2 year global 1 year accidental warranty. This warranty is removed by Best Buy and is replaced with their own ( which is why you had to pay for it from GS ). As far as who fixes it in case of issues I never really cared to know as I dont buy computers from BB.
Being that you bought it from best buy im not sure you can; as i remember it, the manufacturers warranty ( asus ) is taken over by BB and they deal with any issues you have instead of Asus.
Actually, what happens is that regardless of who the vender is, the manufacturer's warranty applies. I currently have a pop-up open on my computer that's telling me to register my laptop.

Here's how it worked with my HP Laptop - I'm assuming it works the same as with the ASUS laptops under a manufacturers warranty. Even though I have a warranty with Best Buy, the manufacturer's warranty requires Best Buy to send my laptop directly to ASUS for any fixing. The only perk about the Best Buy warranty (during the one year that the manufacturer's warranty is in action) is that my Best Buy plan covers physical damage, spillage, etc. whereas the ASUS warranty does not.

My question is basically is it worth me registering my product (since that automatically turns on the manufacturer's warranty)? If there's any non-external damage to the computer in this first year, it will just take longer for my computer to be repaired since I have to hand it in to Best Buy who sends it to ASUS rather than just Best Buy fixing it. But I'm curious as to if there are any perks and purposes to registering my product.
