Nightlord

Nl vs Shadowers

Hey guys, I've been a NL for quite sometime and I want to go back to a shad. What are your opinions regarding range (increase or decrease?), bosses and training?

I personally changed to NL for the drop rate and in case I fund myself again, NL is my way to go. I've seen how they are funded, that's why the plan to fund is still in the backburner.
I'm one of those snooty older shads and don't really like with what they've done to the attacks.

DPM if capping:
Assassinate: 53.856b
Midnight Carnival: 122.550b
Quad Throw: 50.150b

~40mil lines MC would be about the same dpm as capping QT

of course, this is attacking for 60 sec without interruption

Your total buffed range will probably decrease because bstep = 25% total, coin = 25% total, bigger flat attack buffs.

Night Lord Pros:
1. Way better leveling with 40% exp rate. This is not to be underestimated. That 40% move also is your main mobbing move and your strongest mobbing move. Instead of being in the low 230's, I'd probably be in the mid 230's.
2. Way better mobbing than shadowers (and dual blade). NL's Mark hit far range. You can stand in the middle of sdh and hit the entire map. Shadowers cover much less distance with their moves and level MUCH slower.
3. Better bosser at good to high funding. Hitting cap is easier on a night lord and they also outshine them pretty early. It's also easier to kill most bosses as a night lord. Easier gollux, easier queen, vellum, von bon. Harder pierre though because of the nl's mark. This will go away soon and I think the edge will go back to night lord. Easier for magnus and you get more options to attack magnus when he's in the air doing the diagonal attack. You just attack faster and can kill slightly earlier. You get more drops since you get that 20% drop rate increase. I believe both can do dorothy at cap damage.
4. Better at dojo than a shadower. That being said, I've never tried doing dojo as a night lord but you have more range and you attack faster. Still, I believe dojo is a separate skill by itself.
5. You don't have to use as many buffs as a shadower. Not a huge reason but it can get tedious.

Shadower Pros:
1. Stronger in general. Shadowers are actually the strongest in terms of funding efficiency out of the explorer thieves.
2. Has a dash. Night lords have to flash jump. It's easier to dash than flash jump. Dash also helps in other maps and not just for training/bossing.
3. Has a bigger variety of viable moves. You can use bstep+phase dash to train/combo. Assassinate to boss but you'd also use the other 2 to boss as well. Night lords just spam showdown or quad star. You also use mesos explosion during some times (damage reflect test, out of range attacks). Midnight carnival if you're super funded.
4. Has a 50m extra damage cap. This is huge. With $20k funding you'd be the strongest in the game. Plus you get people asking how you hit 100m way before that. It feeds your ego.
5. No stars in your inventory. This is a very big reason for me. Might not be for everyone, but I like to minimize my slots used in inventories (also have maxed slots due to events but still).
6. Good at low ranges. Very good at lower ranges. This is a deal breaker for many. Takes less damage, hits harder. What is there not to like?
7. Smokescreen is under-rated. All the instant-kill moves can't kill you when you're in this. You also get % crit increase. You can safely do arkarium while mostly everyone else is scared.

They are both good at:
1. Crit chance. Easy to get to 100%. NL: 50% crit + 10% Hyper + 15% Phantom + 7% Beast Tamer + 10% DSE + 5% base = 97%. Shadower: 50% Flip + 10% hyper + 15% Phantom + 7% BT + 10% DSE + 5% base = 97%. You just need 1 line of crit chance elsewhere. Might be less point for nl because they cap easier though. Beats db in this aspect.
2. Bossing in general. Shadower is a bit more flashy but they're both good bossers. Night lords are better in terms of easiness, but they are both good. DB is also good, but harder to get to the same level as the other 2.
3. Strong classes. They are not at the "OP" tier unless you're $15k funded, but they are good. DB is stronger than both at higher funding, but not crazy funding when shadowers win.

Shadower hits harder, bosses easier, gets better Dojo times, hits higher damage per line, if funded infinitely does max lines with 100mils, so if funded to god mode then OP

Night Lord hits a little faster, Does more lines than usual Shadower Bossing skills (Until heavy funding then same amount of lines and Shadower> NL in that situation), is a better mobber than Shadower, better trainer in general with the 40% boost of exp with showdown, Night lord is great for bossing, but I still think Shadower is better just cause of the huge damage boost flip of coin gives you. Also Night Lord gets 40% drop from Showdown as well, so that's awesome.

Now with prices, gear is the same except for weapon and secondary. Dagger is way cheaper than a claw, but Shield (Dragon Khanjar) is way more expensive clean than a NL secondary. Also, Night lord's stars, depending on which you use it can run you anywhere from 50mil to 1-2bil (Comparing 10 sets of Hawabi to Fury and yes Hwabi are easy to get for free, this instance is if you get from FM... and Fury can also be made for free too lol)

My preference is Shadower for two reasons! Can job change to Dual Blade, and there are no other Claw using thief classes, cost too much to buy psok and xfer everything over.

But honestly it's best for you to get your own experience.
