How do you ask if they have aids?

When having sex for the first time with a new person... you never know if they are infected. The worst part is, they might not even know...

So how do you bring it up? Just ask? Or get them to have a test first?

"Do you have AIDS?"

Feel free to add the "not to offend you" stuff in there.

Do you have or had a std
I do not, my last thorough blood and urine test came back clean. Honestly if you are smart about using protection, and do not engage in sexual activities with at risk groups like for example at various holiday destination, then you should be fine. To put it in perspective I have had probably had over 50 partners in my lifetime.

Basically you make a judgement call, it's impossible to have all your partners tested especially when a lot of people partake in casual sex and one night stands. For potential long term partners I usually get tested myself and ask the same from them, there is a much higher chance of unprotected sex in such a scenario so it does not hurt. Obviously you have to realise that for something like HIV there is a few weeks to few months window where it may not be detectable in your system.

It's like saying, "hey, if I don't think about it, I won't catch anything"
I'm not implying that ignoring the existence of something will prevent it from happening, but let's be realistic: Bad things can happen to you from practically anything, so it's just better to not to live in paranoia about it all.
Also, the chances of having sex with someone who is HIV positive is extremely low, so it's better to just not think about it. .
Well first off, you should always be using protection with a new sexual partner anyway. And secondly, if they were a decent person, they would tell you (or at least say something about it indirectly). Also, the chances of having sex with someone who is HIV positive is extremely low, so it's better to just not think about it. The best you can do is be as safe as you can.

Use protection.
It's the least you can do.

Get them to have a test first and get yourself tested at the same time. It's the only fair way. Or you can just wait till marriage or when the relationship is serious. But even if you're in a serious relationship, both people should get tested anyway.

lol it dosen't matter if YOU save it for marriage, its about your partner, she may not be a virgin no more, and she could lie about her history and you would have no way of knowing.

Its always a risk.

well if i'm having sex with someone, i usually know their history before getting into bed with her. If it's just a random one night stand then yeah you should probably ask before you do the nasty nasty.

To be super safe, you can both go get tested. Your partner may take offence to that suggestion, though. If you're young, you most likely don't have to even think about it.
