@tiesandbowties: Not entirely true. You don't need to be from top 10 schools to land such placements. It helps, but it's not required. I know for a fact that students at UWaterloo land placements with silicon valley firms, although it isn't the majority of them, most end up working with firms like Sap or random startups.
chem major at mcgill reporting in.
you nerds at waterloo make me me laugh
nerds
Try telling that to the kids that go there.... These guys think they'll literally all be CEOs of the next huge tech startup or something.
Maybe in their own country they might be able to but they won't be able to compete with Stanford, Harvard, Yale, MIT, Cal Tech, Duke, Michigan, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon grads that's for sure.
Silicon Valley has the world's most lucrative tech industry and I have some friends from high school that I keep close tabs with who have been successfully recruited by Google and a couple of decent startups and 99% of the recruitment comes from the top 10 STEM colleges in America and a couple worldwide from South Korea and China according to them. I've never heard from any of my friends of anyone being recruited from Waterloo. It's either an Ivy League grad or a Stanford, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Michigan, Cal Tech (maybe the occasional Cornell/Duke) grad.
never heard of the school and its ranking is pretty dismal. it doesn't even break top 200 universities in the world.
Hey, it's the antisocial girl that cried about how everyone else sucks. How's yar home sickness doing?
It's better, thanks for asking. I realized that it was just my residence community that sucked. When I went to my faculty orientation, the people were much cooler. THESE are the people I will be having classes with. And my roommate left so I can basically do whatever I want in my double room.
@silkym39 Nope, just a school that's 99% antisocial asians.
Isn't that like a super jewish school? Just sayin'.
omg I gotta fill out my application >.<
Engineering is a big festival of ... not sure what to say about it anymore.
I tried programming but I am a newbie that does bad. But, still enough to have it look decent.
Found out that simple programming can get you some good stuff but of course more gets better.
@Omegathorion Alright, I'll give it a try.
if you went to OCADU I wouldve become best friends with you im lonely here someone help
I know some people at OCAD, they're asian too lol
I got into UWaterloo life sciences. Quite a nice community.
aw, I really suck at 3D games.
1. In terms of gameplay, League is pretty much 2D. It's just that the visuals are 3D.
2. Women tend to be worse at spatial depth perception skills than men. Playing 3D games will help you get better at such skills.
3. Sucking at a game should not be a valid reason to avoid it. The whole point of games is that they're ways to acquire and develop new skills, and as human beings it's optimal for us to have proficiency at a wide variety of skills, especially if we're not naturally good at those skills in the first place. Spatial depth perception is a pretty important skill to have in life.
I got to Waterloo for Architecture.
Much better (relaxed) community I feel.
if you went to OCADU I wouldve become best friends with you im lonely here someone help
Should have went to UBC or UoT
Girls at waterloo suck >.< They are either white girls who've been with like 10 other white guys, or asian girls who are so damn quiet and are only found in larger asian herds. Like cmon, you guys need to loosen up. /endrant
Waterloo is like 90% asian what gives?
I chose one of the college residences and it's a religious nuthouse. All white people.
@Rtyu If you seriously go to waterloo, we can be friends with computer benefits. Lol I wish I was a wh0re, but I'm not.
@Omegathorion aw, I really suck at 3D games.
Uh... sure, if you play League there's a big Basil community. I think there's a Basilmarket group chat.
Waterloo is like 90% asian what gives?
@PermaGypsy Yes, please.
looooooooool.
Sausage fest.
How does it feel to be socially inferior to Laurier :O
Can I be your roommate?
