Is Guild Wars 2 so far superior that I shouldn't waste my time with Factions?

I believe Factions is one of 3 storylines for the original Guild Wars (there's also Prophecies - the original, and Nightfall). The original GW games are instance based, have a low level limit of 20 and I think most people still play more for the PvP than anything else. GW2 is open world on the other hand, is set 250 years after the original GW games, and places a lot more emphasis on the PvE side of things, as well as PvP.
