Why not, Nexon thought New Years Eve was on the 30th:

I can't blame people for expecting 2x on the day Nexon said they were giving 2x. I'm sure most of us were smart enough to recognize the error, especially since the graphic portion says Dec 31st and Jan 1st. However, not everyone is smart.
