Help for a Cruddy Vereran?

I've been playing MapleStory since, just about, the beginning, though I've always found it difficult to level quickly. The highest level I've been able to manage is level 47 and that was just recently, on me Demon Slayer. Back when I played a warrior on an old account in Bera in 2005/06, I could never get past level 18. Now, I usually get about 2-3 levels per week, yet I see people getting about 20 a day at higher levels. Is it because I don't buy NX or is it just because I'm impatient? A few pointers would be nice, too. So, any help, please?
