Mm or Pally? For the long run

Just wondering which one would be better in the long run.
I really want to stick with one character for a long time.
So I'm gonna try a character with long term advantages instead of short term ones.

I was thinking Pally because of the core skills you got to max (and they look pretty sweet!).
However MM, as my friends say, are way better cause of the damage.

I'm not really asking which one is stronger as I do know funding is key to strength in the game.
Just need to know which one is more rewarding as you go through the levels.
