Damage Range probably will get locked almost immediately

I understand some people enjoy the game for damage, and I understand some do not.

Why do people always find the need to compare their ranges, and why do people always ask the question "which job should i choose for the most damage?"

Coming from someone who has played maple for a long time and know a little here or there about the game, I actually have a word of wisdom, the more you switch jobs (just for damage increase) the less you'll actually grow in damage.

I have found that people who enjoy the game as a challenge more than just for damage, actually are on the stronger percentile of maplers, but that's just me.

Which leads me to ask the question, what does damage range mean to you? and what is a high damage range in your opinion? (please put Job and level if you're answering the second question)
Goal of ms: Be stronger than everyone else in the game
Nothing else, no social bs cause there's a thing called facebook
Giving you the benefit of the doubt and removing the social element.
Other goals could include
Being a collector of rare items
Being a good merchant
Playing the game for the storylines of each job
Playing the game for the exploration aspect of it
Playing alot of jobs just to see hyper skills
and the list goes on

All games do have their element of competition, but there's always the percentile of gamers who actually don't require being the best, or aiming to be the best in order to have fun in the game.
My range is directly proportional to the amount of money + time I put in

Lacking on the money side. Actually, other than playing the class you like, you need to be really connected or play a job that is needed in boss runs if you don't have high range.. It feels really annoying when your friends with lower damage get to go all sorts of bosses and yet you can't because your job is a pure dps-only class, even if you love the class.
these days, alot of bosses can be soloed and usually if you want to party there are so many friends who will party with you to do the boss run
Well, DUH! The gap between the rich and the poor is SO huge, that the RICH can play any class they WANT and still be strong enough to solo most bosses, and therefore, stick to one class, the one class that they enjoy the most. See, there's a REASON why some people opt for the highest dps class in favor of the class they enjoy the most. You see, MOST of those people either A. want to have power, but they don't want to WORK for it, or B. they 'd rather be strong enough to do a DECENT portion of the game's content NOW, instead of working hard while being restricted to boring, LOW LEVEL, and variety-lacking content for MONTHS, to get strong enough to be able to do MOST of the content, in either case, its a case of instant gratification. THAT'S why you see a trend in which the strongest people are those that stick to one class, and not the bandwagoners.
I love you! honestly, this post made me smile cause I agree with everything you just said!

@andretheman: That's true and I agree with your opinion 100 percent. That's why I stuck with Mercedes because despite everyone picking on this class, I find it to be fun and worth my time and investment. I have to reiterate how right I think you are in the context that having fun is more important.

@andretheman: Well I'm sure everyone likes numbers. I mean I pick what's fun, and sure I'll try to get stuff to increase my damage and whatnot, but I'd still prefer to play a class I'm having fun on, rather than "Oh I must be doing top damage." Or something along those lines. Yeah doing decent damage is fun, but I'd prefer playing something I enjoy.

Don't get me wrong I love numbers, and I think you do too, but that's why I spend time getting better equips that are tradeable so I can use between different jobs in case I move to something that's more FLASHY because honestly, the reason I play most games is cause I love flashy things (that's why I secretly love my mages in my tales games)

A good amount of damage is needed to complete some challenging bosses and since money doesn't grow off trees ... I guess some people like to pick the strongest classes to have the best chance at beating these bosses? Also for me personally, if I like two classes equally, I would probably go with the stronger one.
Damage is actually important for the most part because the point of the game is to hunt and quest. You can't blame people for wanting to be strong.
That's true, but if you want damage to the point where you become dependent on the opinions of the masses, (Should I choose DB because they have a high DPM?) doesn't that hurt you more than make you (when it comes to being stronger in the game).

I never really choose classes for damage since I can't really see myself maining anything but Shadower.
But classes like Bishop that just have extremely low damage (not sure about them after revamp) and being dependent on other classes just makes the game feel slow paced.
I can see damage being an importance, but if you aren't having fun with a class that does more damage than a class that is fun for you, then you're just wasting your time.
Some people just like doing damage though. Whatever suits you.

Mesos wise? or NX wise? because I know people who spend loads on this game and end up not even doing much for their damage.
Mesos is nice, but I think having the right friends, and knowledge of the game allows for better items (damage wise)

lol this man and his wise words, probably the best thread i've read today, and as you all probably know, i've read a lot.
Play the class you enjoy, funding can make any class strong (assuming 4th job), see youtube channels if you don't believe me.
