enjoy that online gameplay u got thar

*snickers to self*
Wow this is like the third person who's said that.
1. I said that in the future I am planning to jailbreak this, I think I also stated that I realize that jailbreaking doesn't support online gameplay, meaning I didn't buy the ps3 for online gameplay.
2. I just got it today, and already I have someone who sounds like an xbox fan saying things that I don't want to see.
3. Understand that I don't care if the online is down, I mentioned it also in this thread, that I only care about games that support offline multiplayer because I like to play games with my sis.
Well, I GUESS you could... if you're into losing your credit card info and all that.
Lol I don't intend on purchasing anything online, so there will be no info to lose.
u can't jailbreak cuz psn is down and they are patching the newest cfw so goodluck in getting that
yeah i've been reading up on that, until that blows over, I'm buying a ps3 bundle with uncharted 2, for 285 dollars, with 120 dollars left over to buy a second game, hopefully these will last me until I see what's going on with this PSN business. I'm so excited, I'm waking up in 6 hours, to get out of my bed in time to reach the store minutes after it opens to get my new game. Decided I'm going to best buy, and if that doesn't work, ima go to futureshop which is like 3mins away from my house.
SAY YAY pllease cause im very sexcited.

EDIT: @bmankarate: I believe the newest cfw (public) is 3.55 I haven't seen any concrete evidence of 3.60 or 3.56, but from what I gather, you are not able to play online with it anyways, and I also heard that it can be removed if you do by chance want to play online with any of your bought games. But i wont risk anything now, because I'm not fully comfortable with it. The wii is different though, it has been modded for about 1 year or 2 Idk, so I will just get free games for that.
BTW did you hear that there is a wii 2 coming out late 2011 and early 2012, im excited for that also, lmao look its making me ramble.
If you live in Canada, go to Future Shop and buy the PS3 160 GB. It comes w/ Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted 2 GOTY Edition free of cost. The PS3 Costs 338.00 Dollars after tax.
OMG i just saw that, and there is a future shop 3 mins bus ride away from me and it has it in stock. Im going to go out tomorrow and buy my ps3, I have 450 dollars with me, do you think if I bring an image of future shops deal that EB games will lower their price to match future shops? cause they don't have any deals like that, also I wanted to buy from eb games/gamestop because i was going to give in mario kart wii and SSBB, on their site it says I get 55 dollars credit for that which could greatly reduce my price.
Hackers *cough*GeoHotz*cough* have taken down the Playstation Network at the moment...and it sucks.

Also, I know a place where you can get a brand new PS3 for much cheaper than $300 and there's no S&H or tax.
OMG, that pissed me off, and to make it even worse I was planning no jailbreaking, but now Idk anymore, with PSN down, and everything going wrong the moment I want to buy a ps3, maybe its an omen, lmao.
with regard to your question about hard disk space, 160 GB is more than enough. keep in mind that when the PS3 first launched, the original models were 20, 40, 60, and 80 GB. if you're only using disk space for game saves, you shouldn't have to worry
But before I was wondering why it needed so much disk space, but some people told me that other than game saves there games that you can only download online, and save on the hard drive.
Just be careful though, i think they could ban you from PSN if they find that your jailbreaking. Then again im not 100% sure, but just be aware.

You're making a good purchase man! PS3 rocks, ive had mine for about a year and a half(120 GB Slim) and im loving the PS3. I even sold my 360 for more PS3 games and DO NOT regret it.
That makes me even more pumped to get one now. Slim? they have a ps3 fat and slim? is there a big difference like the ps2 fat and slim? or is it hard to notice.
The extra space is for memory storage, like you said. The main things the hard drive saves memory of is:

-Game data/saves (basicly think built-in memory card)
-Install data (which basicly lets the PS3 cut down on load times)
-Downloadable games.
-Added contentent (like patches, downloadable characters/upgrades, downloadable songs for games like Rock Band)

That kinna stuff.

Also, I saw your list of games you want to buy and noticed Super Street Fighter 4. Believe it or not, I reccomend you NOT buying this game.
Why, you ask?
Because a new version has just recently been announced to come out for consoles - Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition. It's (obviously) the arcade version of the game, which not only has everything we have so far in SSF4, but it comes with 4 more characters exclusive to the arcade:
-Yun (from Street Fighter 3/Street Fighter Alpha)
-Yang (from Street Fighter 3)
-Evil Ryu (various games)
-Oni Akuma (basicly this game's Shin Akuma)

And, more than likely, there will be improved character balancing.
do you know when is that due to be released? o: i was expecting it to be a dlc lol

Not buying, (jailbreaking Ps3), if there is a game that I really want online on, then I'll buy it. But thanks for the heads up

@xrsmagicx:
That game is very interesting, I like the mechanics, and I really want it now, it's going on my list.
Just so you know, Tales of Vesperia isn't out in English for the PS3, only in Japanese.
As for the space it uses, its for data installs. Some games have you download data to make the game run faster and such. You can also use the space for videos, music, etc. And it is also used for game saves but only a little bit of space.
Edit: Ninja'd about ToV
Oh ok, cause when he said the space was used for games I was like wth, games are like 4 GB+. Also aww, too bad for tales of vesperia, whats wrong with these people, I haven't seen a good tales game since tales of the abyss, I played dawn of the new world, and it wasn't as good, as abyss.

@andretheman:

I mean like actually installing a game. I think it helps with loading and speeds and such.
and Yes PSN is play station network.
Well I'm pretty sure you have to install your games onto your PS3. That's what the space is sued for. Another thing the space is used for is the stuff you download of the PSN.
Really wth? but install games do you mean just the save files, what happened to the CD having all the GB of game, and then the memory taking care of the KB save file.
Oh ok PSN is play station network?

@hermit2468:
Tales of Graces F - Not Tales of Graces, is coming out later in the US this year, for the PS3, tales of vesperia is only jap?, I need to check that
