Non-Asians listening to JapKoreanChinese music

Whats your opinion on this?

My high school is approximately 93% Asian(mostly chinese/jap). According to the School it is anyway..

Anyway, i was in the library and i saw this group of white kids listening to Jap/Kpop. I dont know why, but i found it irritating. It bothered me for a reason that i cannot explain.

Anyway, when i went home. I saw this youtube video of a white girl trying to sing in Japanese.. Pissed me off. I left a strongly worded comment to the singer.

And was on my way. THEN, i saw a group of white girls doing a japanese music video..

THE HELL? </3

Anyway what are your thoughts..

It looks weird, but I don't mind. They chose to listen to what they want. Just like how I personally hate almost all music with lyrics. Music was at its prime during the classic era. Then they decided they needed human singers and then it went down hill. Music is supposed to be beautiful, now human voices have ruined it.

Of course, there are SOME expections, but not alot. One of the only songs I listen to with lyrics is Sound Of Silence. Other than that, I listen to soundtracks from various video games, the most prominent being Halo's.

Why does it matter...? LOL

I'm Asian. I listen to Spanish music. I listen to German music. I listen to American music. I listen to Korean music.
Music is music. It doesn't have to be in a specific language for it to be beautiful.

Is that fair? no.
slavery equates to music.....how? okay this is like AP equating roger goodell and the nfl as slavery to the players. like what? blah blah "psychology major" good for you but you really seem like you're trying to make yourself and your way of thinking seem superior to others. equality thinking? it's music, i just said it seems weird. you're like totally off base with what i'm saying. i'm just saying its weird from my perspective, but obviously you're also trying to show your nonpareil "intelligence" when i was saying that the issue from me or the TS isn't really a big deal at all...its just weird aka a minor issue, if one at all
Slavery doesn't equate to music. Closed mindedness and ethnocentrism does. I'm trying to make myself seem smart? Nah, if you perception of me, is smart, then thank you. I wouldn't just say im a Psych. Major for no reason. Correct me if I'm wrong but the TS said ''I dont know why, but i found it irritating''. Last time I checked the point of a Psychologist was to help people understand their feelings when they themselves can't figure out why they feel a certain way. What might not be such a big deal to you might be very offensive to others. Try being considerate before you go and support this kind of BS.

Are the people in this thread as tolerant to people like, say, weeaboos? I doubt it, yet they seem to be defending such people.

And to be honest, I agree with TS. If you don't understand the language, why're you listening to Asian music? Why're you obsessing over these people who aren't even marketing towards you? This is what's irritating.

I don't mind, because I know it's an escape from the crappy music the majority (<-- NOT ALL) of North America/Europe releases nowadays.

I find it weird to find Asians living in America when they should be living in Asia. I find it weird that so many people who aren't from Germanic decent are speaking English. It just makes me cringe.

/mocking OP

at above me I sort of (wtf it wont let me put "of" and "agree" side by side) agree with you, but obviously you cannot judge all white people under that stereotype I have met tons of very nice accepting white people, but I have also met un-accepting blacks, hispanic, asians, etc
i don't think you really understand because you're not 100% asian living places that aren't majority asian. i think the TS is like me, as in its not something i control its just...uncomfortable O_o i don't think he's saying nonasians shouldn't listen to j/k pop, it's just weird.
Lol! I don't understand because I'm not 100% asian? I'm half, are you saying I'm half as competent? No, actually I understand 100%. Do I also need to mention that I'm a Psychology major? I'm pretty sure I more than understand. It's just Ethnocentrism getting in the way of Equality thinking. It's feelings like this that started the whole slavery racism thing. Just sayin'

wow that's incredibly rude.
let them listen to what they want.
i actually hate asians like you.
thinking they own the music they own
in fact, YOU didn't even make it, OTHER artists did
i see no reason for YOU to get mad.
Music isn't supposed to be about what race you are in my opinion. It's music, something to be enjoyed by all.

I'm white and I really enjoy listening to KPop, even am intermediate level in speaking and writing Korean. To me I'm not into it because its some crazy new fad or whatever but because I genuinely enjoy the music.

Your welcome to your own feelings but reading this made me a bit sad.
To add on to this person's statement, race doesn't affect the fact that we are all human. I'm not Asian, and I listen to J-Rock (and I have learned some Japanese because of it), and I listen to this music because of the lyrics of the song, as well as the fact that I enjoy the genre itself (I'm also into A-Rock, etc).

Wait, But are you even Korean or Japanese? I see a lot of south east Asians listening to kpop/jrock, yet no one mentions them. Same concept, It's not like those Asians will have any more of an understanding for the lyrics than whites or blacks, so why aren't they being mentioned? In Korea some people look down on those Asians even more than Americans. Also, have you ever thought that some people like the production? I know some people that listen to kpop just because of the beats. It seems to me that you're just letting your ''AZN PRIDE'' feed your close mindedness, judging by your ign ''AznBishop2''.

If someone wants to listen to something then let them, why are you getting irritated over something that has absolutely nothing to do with you, at all.

btw i'm also mixed (Korean, White, Spanish) and I listen to all types of music.

Amazing

That's like Asians listening to American or English music ok!

Well off that topic, it'll definitely irk me but I have no reason to bash them or anything. They're entitled to listen to korean and Japanese crap while I'm entitled to being a weeaboo that understands very little Japanese and thinks sugoi-desu of himself ok.
@BabySaysBye: So what? Hip Hop and Rock and roll/blues/etc can be sung in other languages. You even mentioned Asian pop songs, there are also American pop songs. So why did you say Asian pop, and not Asian hip hop, Asian rock and roll/blues/etc. And why did you not say American hip hop and rock and roll/blues/etc. So why? You're argument contains fallacies, I suggest you think before you post.

I only get irritated at the girls who go gaga over Kpop. Reason? They only like the boys, as it seems that the girls talk about the music for a good 10 seconds than go straight to drooling over the girls . . I mean guys, that look like girls. I hate Kpop myself, but I still find it rude for them to like and declare themselves as Kpop fans just for liking the guys and not their/the music. When they found out I said Kpop sucked, they just said, "You're just jealous that you're not hot" or "Tae-Yang looks better than you". Yes, because they sing with their faces, yes obviously, how did I not see that. -facepalm- I know the mouth is apart of the face, but you don't sing with your nose and eyes do you? (Than again most Kpop fans are like that)
Pft, started to hate on Kpop half way through the paragraph, I apologize.
T h a n k y o u !<3
Most kpop fans just like the boys(or girlso.o) just for there looks and not there music
Thats why I like 2ne1 they are ugly and they have music that has a story and meaning

well, i don't really care because i am not a huge fan of asian music anyway. plus, i listen to music from lots of different countries, so i don't think asian music should be restricted to just asians.

I have pride in KPop.

I find it weird that they have absolutely NO idea what they're singing, yet they sing it.

I listen to J-Rock/J-Pop, and I'm not Asian (I'm African/Middle Eastern).
I don't really care about race when it comes to music, because as long as it's good, I'm fine with it.
