Are 17 inch laptops hard to carry around?

I'm looking to get a new laptop for school, but I'd also use it for games, so I want it to have a 15.6, or 17.3 inch screen. I'm looking at the MSI GS60 Ghost, which has a 15.6 inch screen and weighs 4.3 pounds, or the MSI GS70 Stealth, which has a 17.3 inch screen and weighs 5.6 pounds. Both of them are pretty light, so I'm just wondering if any of you guys had trouble using a 17.3 inch laptop in school.

Just get something like the 13" dell xps (If you prefer windows) or a macbook air.
I wouldn't play games on a laptop (especially a school one) thats just silly.
carrying a gaming laptop is going to be far too heavy.

It shouldn't be too bad. I have a 10lb 17.3in Asus laptop and I put it in my backpack and can carry it around easily enough. 5.6lbs is pretty light too so you definitely could manage. However, like people have said, battery life is better on a 15.6in, and 15.6in is more portable (duh).

15.6>17.3 if you need to carry a laptop around
classes too far apart

15inch should be ample for your needs, provided it has the right specs. The larger screen will also kill your battery life.

I carry my 17" laptop for club reasons and a 13" mac (only use this mac for work) to school like everyday. I cry everyday...
cuz going to school takes me around 1-2hours + running around with it to catch subway, trains, buses and walking to classes is hella annoying.
I dont suggest the 17". The days i dont have my 17" w/ me, I feel so light lul. Stick with the lighter choice if you're gonna use it for school.
My Lenovo y510p is pretty heavy and large compared to my old Compaq laptop. I've never used my gaming laptop (lol laptop, gaming, ha) in school. I just use my macbook air.

My Lenovo barely fits in my backpack.
I use a Lenovo Y510p as well for school work and gaming, and it can game just fine so I don't know what you're on about o.o. This laptop is designed for gaming.

I have trouble carrying around a 13'' macbook but I carry it in a 15'' sleeve.

15'' fits nicely in my bag.

If you get the 17'' youll most likely wont be able to fit it in your bag and will have to carry it in your arms every time.
I also have a 15'' laptop that I keep at home to play games on, but I dont see myself ever bringing to school. It just seems so big compared to my 13''
2'' really makes a difference!

Edit: Go with the 15'' imo. Its a good size for a laptop for school & play.
