Crashing and lagging

Since the last patch I've been experiencing a lot crashing and lagging.

More specifically, on my cannoneer, as soon as I log on and use an attack skill I receive the following message:
"The instruction at 0x7714959d referenced memory at 0x1ed5f000. the memory could not be read"
I know the message is rather vague but this has happened to me more often than it should and that's the only thing I have to link it back to
However this is not a specific case because I crash right as I press an attack button at any time, but it is not always right as I log on

In addition, when I change channels or the game does it for me, for example when going to the evolution system or aswan, I start lagging
Not hard lag, but everything is delayed. Like when I cast skills in a macro only the visual effect of the first one shows up but the skill icon in the top right corner of the screen doesn't show up and doesn't go through the rest of the macro.
Other examples are when I'm attacking mobs and I damage them well past the amount of HP they should have but they don't die but kind of freeze there.
It's like when the server crashes and you can still move around and stuff but nothing else moves
This only happens when I'm changing channels and happens quite often, more often than not

I don't know if this is a problem on my side because everything was fine until the last patch but I have not found anyone else with this problem
I run on Windows 8, but I doubt that it's a compatibility issue
It would be much appreciated if someone could offer insight or help into the topic because this has been going on for the past 2 weeks
