Is it just me or does the blue screamer look a lot like tidus' sword from the FF series?...

EVERY game builds off other games that came before it. WoW isn't original, all it's stuff has been done before, same with Runescape and any other current game.
RPGs have been around so long everything has been done before and every piece of equipment is like something from some other game.
Don't worry about it and just play the game.
