2d Mmorpg Genre Dying?
Has anyone else noticed the lack of 2D MMORPGs entering the market? It is near none. I believe the very last one to enter was Eden Eternal. I am worried about this because 2D games are virtually all my computer can handle, and because of that, I am stuck playing MapleStory. Has anyone, at all, heard of any new 2D titles that have recently come out or are coming out?
One that has my eye is made by Gpotato (I know, the publisher sucks) and it's called Eternal Blade. I'm excited for it. It's supposed to be out sometime this year. [url=http://eternalblade.gpotato.com/teaser/]Eternal Blade[/url]

MapleStory has potential but greed ruined it. Other 2D MMOs are some combination of being owned by companies similar to Nexon, being over-run by hackers, and not having a big enough fanbase/community to be thoroughly enjoyable. It's no wonder the scene is dying.
LaTale is the best 2D MMO that exist
If you want a good 2D game, play Final Fantasy 3 or Chrono Trigger, for the SNES.
Although they aren't MMO's...

EDIT: Just found this on their site. Such a shame. Apparently there is a problem with the developers so they are switching to ignited games (a new publisher) and will be down for an unnamed amount of time.

I played Wonderking in Alpha or Beta, I can't remember which. I liked it a lot! It's a great alternative to Maplestory.

Eh, there's a few but they really aren't that fun to play is all.
There's Ghost online, which people think Maplestory copied (or vice versa) from. There's Dungeon Fighter Online, which is a Nexon game and is actually really fun. There's LaTale, which is okay but not as fun as Maple. There's Elsword I guess? Iunno, I consider Rusty Hearts to be 2.5d as well, and it's pretty fun.
Point is, it was a genre of MMO largely pioneered by Maplestory, and no other big company has been able to compete.
There weren't that many to begin with, and as @Watermelon said, they have to compete with MapleStory which is virtually impossible.
Maple is the only MMO I play so
2D games have never really had a huge market. Most of the ones that have started up have difficulties staying because the sidescrolling mmo industry is dominated by MS.
Most of them suck and can't compete against Maplestory.
