I got a BSOD (Stop 00x00000024)

I got a BSOD, and I tried looking stuff up, but none of them work. Anyway, so the computer just automatically restarts after the Windows XP screen, and quickly goes into BSOD. The only way to see the BSOD is if i go to the option Disable Automatic restart if system failure... and yeah.

Here's a video I took on what's happening.
And some pictures (Camera broke too, and my iPod internet is broken or something). My luck with electronics these days ._.

I don't think the Recovery Console uses chkdsk/f, the chkdsk/r command should tell it to "repair" any sector errors it encounters if it can. (The /r option also does the /p function so you only need to do /r).

So after doing the chkdsk/r and rebooting without the CD you still get the 00000024 error? That could indicate a serious problem on the hard drive, unfortunately.

Try these steps:

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/repairbootini.htm
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/ht/repairmbr.htm
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/instxprepair1.htm

The first two probably won't help, but are worth a try. The third one will install Windows again without erasing any of your programs or files. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

And if that doesn't work, you'll probably be faced with reformatting the hard drive completely, which will wipe it clean and allow Windows to be reinstalled fresh. Unfortunately that will also wipe out all your files. There are some things you can try before doing this to try to save any files you really want to save.

And finally if a full format doesn't work, then it may be the hard drive itself that's gone bad and will have to be replaced.

I tried this yseterday, and I could only do chkdsk /r and /p (The BSOD tells me to do CHKDSK /f) o_o. CHKDSK /R doesn't really do anything, so i'm just stuck at the command point. Any ideas?

This can be a real pain to fix, because that error signals a problem exists on your hard drive that's not letting the computer access Windows to start it up.

Most of the time this is caused by corrupted files on the hard drive (which sometimes can be caused by shutting down the computer without first shutting down Windows, as in a power outage or if the dog chews the power cable, but not always), OR less often, by actual damage to the hard drive.

This page gives some info about the error and suggests ways of dealing with it. Note that if you can't get the system fully booted into Windows you'll need an original Windows installation CD to do the procedures listed: http://www.scribd.com/doc/1017139/0x00000024
