Tips on beating magnus

So, I am really stumped on what to do. I am a kaiser that is definitely capable of defeating normal magnus, but I always fail over and over. I don't understand how to get around some problems with him, and it makes me aggravated since I keep feeling it's unfair. I like the challenge, but he always seems to have incorrect hitboxes. Sometimes his sword wouldn't look like it hit, but it lands and I get hit hard. Also, I am always inside of the blue ring, but I get trapped by 3-5 purple balls when he goes for the move where he knocks the player away, and sometimes in the blue area I get the reduced potion healing. I also seem to get outprioritized when I try to use an i-frame move, even when I believe I timed it correctly. It is not my frames problem since I hit over a hundred, and my button inputs are usually lagless. I try to follow how players online do it, but it seems impossible as my matches are different than theirs. When I fight magnus, he seems to be able to swing over 60% of the map with the dash move, and meteors seem more frequent for me than when i see other people solo.

Well, thanks for the advice. Guess I just have to keep dying over and over by Magnus Senpai to succeed

Is there a mayor difference in the attacking patterns between hard, normal and easy? Just curious i've only killed easy

The trick to mastering any boss is the perfect the environmental obstacles first. So for Magnus, you want to be able to navigate your character through all the balls and gas. Once dodging that stuff becomes second nature and you dont need to think about it, you should be able to solo him. You're probably focusing on trying to survive from Magnus's moves, but I can assure you the reason why you keep dying is from the environmental things like balls and gas

Honestly Magnus is one of those bosses that can only be learned with experience.

I think practice really helps. I remember I spent one day trying to kill him 5 times and I failed each time but then the next day I passed after my 2nd turn. It might help watching videos like you've been doing but nothing beats the real thing
I think the people you are watching probably kill magnus quite fast so you don't see as many meteors towards the end but I always get bombarded with them and lose a lot of lives
And yeah I get hit by his red vertical sword even though I'm pretty sure I'm out of range; maybe step out of the blue zone?
If you are feeling demoralised, go duo with a friend and slowly work your way up. All the best

Basically what Arch said. If you're having problems with a boss, keep dying. You'll figure it out eventually.

Steven gives good advice, but you really need to get in there and practice until you get the timing right. Sometime around my 50th Hard Magnus run it went from being "this is really hard", to "piece of cake", and I play one of the worst classes for Magnus so it should take you even less tries.

The green attack has a huge hitbox. Look at the ring up top and extend it a little bit out to guess where it will hit. Take a screenshot next time if you need to study it.
For most classes, if you use a rush attack when he uses the spin, you wont be knocked away.
Sometimes I get bugged and get reduced healing in the blue area, but not often. Just make sure 100% that youre in it, and not on the edge. Also, I think the game needs a sec or two to register that you got into the blue area before pot reduction goes off.

It you want, you can record your run and show us. Magnus can't dash 60% of the map. I would say he can do about 20-30%. If meteors seem more frequent, it could be a few things:
1) They're playing in a smaller resolution than you, so it looks like less
2) More meteors spawn as you get farther into the run, so make sure you look at the END of peoples' videos
3) Make sure you're looking at the right difficulties
4) Could just seem like more because you have to dodge them instead of watching somebody else dodge them

Also remember, surviving is much more important than getting in 1-2 extra attacks. If you have to move right when you see a meteor and miss out on 1-2 attacks, DO IT. You can always attack after you move.
Try to avoid using a lot of long cast buffs together at once. The more you're standing in place, the more time there is for a meteor to come down and hit you.
Don't bother casting any necessary buffs. Only buffs that would help you like, such as damage, att speed, dodge, %damage intake reduction, etc, should be bothered casting
Use a mutant snail familiar. It gives some pretty nice hp recovery, and can help you survive a lot more attacks.

Best of luck!

Practice for 50 times you will learn it.
he always seems to have incorrect hitboxes. Sometimes his sword wouldn't look like it hit, but it lands and I get hit hard.
The sword/green genesis has a larger hitbox than it appears to be
Also, I am always inside of the blue ring, but I get trapped by 3-5 purple balls when he goes for the move where he knocks the player away
Kaisers have a rush skill, and always avoid being trapped by meteors because his next move can be spin KB
sometimes in the blue area I get the reduced potion healing.
It takes some time (1-2 sec) before the reduction effect disappears

But... we need to make bosses more challenging! Did you see how fast people are killing Hard Magnus?
