@Templar: They didn't use a handball watch a decent replay it hits more of his chest than anything.
If your arms are tight to your body and it hits them, it doesn't count as a hand ball. If your arms are out and the ball hits it, then it is a handball. In the replay you clearly see that Eshcenko was hit in the right side of his chest.
@Ecliptic Wrong. Its called Russia sucking. Pls rewatch.
Yeah, you definitely don't watch soccer.
South Korea barely qualified for the world cup, they made in on goal differential, where as Russia got in by winning their group, which actually had a good team in it.
Like I said, stick with starcraft, you clearly don't understand soccer.
@Se7olution: The thing is, their build up plays never really went close to the net (which in my book is just keeping possession). They cycled it to the wings and then back without making an effort to put a cross in, or even moving towards the net (had they went to the net, then I would consider it an attack).
Idk what game you saw, but I seen them attempt to get it in a few times. Not to mention they got their possession stolen many times in game while trying to make their way up. Maybe that's why you think this way.
@Se7olution: Now where in my statement did I say that it was that it was Korea's fault that Russia didn't win?
A simple attempt on target isn't an attack. Passing the ball around the 18 isn't an attack which is exactly what the Russians did most of the time.
@Templar: it would be called keeping possession.
I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I never accused you saying it was Koreas fault that Russia didn't win. In the game the Russians did pass the ball a lot but their main intention was to slowly progress further into the other teams goal and if their line of attack was blocked, they would send the ball back and try to get through another way. Which is in fact attacking.
@Se7olution: Brush up on your comprehension big boy.
You seem a little a rustled.
No where did I say that anything was the Koreans' fault.
If you think that the "Russian attacks" in this game were attacks, then you clearly don't watch soccer.
Stick with starcraft buddy.
All I was saying is that it was the Russians fault in not being able to win the game due to their lack of planning if they're as good as you believe. I think I know my soccer more than enough to be able to tell an attack. Whether it may not be the best attack they can do or no matter how much you refuse to believe that it was an attack. An attack is an attack. They tried to get the ball into the other teams goal. I guess your biased mind is blinding you from the this fact. Oh and Naw, Starcraft got boring for me ages ago. I prefer Sports over Esports anyways.

I didn't come off impressed with either team during that match. And from the parts I watched (last 25 or so minutes of the first half), I thought Korea played slightly better.
The Russians never bothered actually attacking, every time there was a decent chance, they played it back to the full backs and built the play up again. You can tell they are hurting without Shirokov who would have controlled the pace better. They should have also started with Dzagoev and Kherzhakov, instead of Kokorin.
Really? Did it really seem like that to you? I saw many attempts of Russia trying to attack, but lets say that you're right and they didn't attempt any attacks. Isn't that their fault for the lack of planning? You think Russia was all like "We can win without attempting any goals"? Is it the Koreans fault that this Kokorin guy was sent out first? Is it their fault that Shirokov wasn't there? Please stop being so biased and acting like those Russian Judges in the Olympics who caused Kim Yuna to get Silver.
why are some people so butthurt that Russia didnt win? The game was more or less balanced as someone above said, they were both lucky for striking a goal.
Both Russia and Korea played around the same, had similar possessions. They both had their pros and cons in their playing tactics which balanced out pretty well for the 2 teams. @Templar: His hand was in front of his stomach, it wasn't deliberately blocked, there was no way he could have avoided it. It wouldn't have been ruled a hand ball in any league. And that supposed "hand ball" was off a terrible clearance by the Koreans.
They capitalized on a poor Korean defense that couldn't
a) set up a proper offside trap b) couldn't clear the ball when given a clear chance

@ecliptic pls rewatch. Korea outplayed Russia up to the equalizing goal lol
The game was pretty much played in the Korean half, except for a few odd counter attacks and one or two free kicks. The Korean possession comes from them passing the ball just a few yards in front of the 18 because they couldn't set up properly.
Russia had the far better passing plays that led to a few dangerous moments that Kokorin couldn't do anything with, had it been Kerzhakov the score line would have been very different.
Russia had a terrible goalkeeper.
Someone clearly doesn't watch soccer.
@Templar: possession was literally like 50-50 and Russia had the most dangerous chance. All the Koreans did was just shoot it over the net by like 20 feet.
I was expecting some sort of crazy synchronized routine from the koreans but I was disappointed. I noticed all the koreans had light brown hair, is that a natural hair colour for them or did they all dye it like that?
Korea was terrible. They let a goal fly by when they kept trying to get the ref to give a foul to Russia for a "handball"...just play the ball to the end.

I fixed it for you.
@Templar: i was talking about countries like Germany but ok. i dont even remember the 2012 game anyways
Forget Korea. Final should be Germany vs. Netherlands.
Belgium seems like the strongest in the group and the most likely to advance imo
lol we all know Korea will get destroyed when playing against the European countries or Argentina
if your betting money that korea is going to make it to the finals, then i have bad news for you.
I didn't come off impressed with either team during that match.

my favourite thing when korea plays is how loud the koreans get when cheering in the stadium
but yeah korea isn't going to get far in this tournament.
