The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

I've always known that I was circumcised as a toddler, but I've thought about it recently, and I think it's so wrong. Newborns don't have any decision making skills, and have no choice but to lay there and get their foreskin cut off. They don't even get anthestetics, and feel all of the pain. Anyone else think that having a baby circumcised is wrong?

It doesn't matter because they won't remember the pain.

it's pretty hard to justify but i'm not against it, and i would say it's better to do it as a baby when you won't remember at all, as opposed to dealing with the surgery and recovery as a kid/teen/adult

not sure if i'd do it to my son or not...because it's not really my business if he has a slug d or not, i don't really care
again my only thought when it comes to that would be if he dislikes being uncut and later has to go through a painful surgery

anyways, all i know is that my junk has never been circumcised, and now it looks like a mutated growth. its very nasty and the chances of me ever getting a girl not to throw up at my nude exterior is very slim.

This isn't what the thread is about, so don't bring it up. Make a new one if you wanna discuss catholic tradition.
This is in fact what the thread is about, the moral implications of making a decision for a child too young to make their own.

Circumcision is less prominent nowadays (or so I read somewhere). It really isn't a problem either way. It's definitely not a hour long procedure to clean down there in the shower if you're uncut. I guess it comes down to personal preference, based on appearance, which can only be decided when you're older.
I was circumcised because it was recommended by the Dr. due to the reduced risk of genital cancer along with foreskin related diseases/hygiene. No different to having tonsils removed to avoid tonsillitis.
You do know that was proven wrong a long time ago, right? Being circumcised and uncircumcised has no difference in chances of getting genital cancer.

You mean like the fact that it increases chance to have UTI's? Most of the "various benefits" thought to be brought upon by this specific operation have not only been proven wrong, but actually have an effect blatantly opposite of the common belief. It seems like you're the one who needs to start looking things up, my good man.

Well, even if the child wants it, you should let it have the decision when it's older. What if that person doesn't want it?

Most people do it for religious reasons and it's actually healthier for the baby since bacteria can grow between the foreskin and the (male part).
removing would lower the risk of the baby getting sick.

It is much healthier for the baby, and is a lot less work because you don't have to constantly clean down there.
And besides, it's not like you remember the pain anyway, it's much better for the child to be circumcised as a baby. But, if parents decide to get them circumcised when they are older, then that's a different story.
Summary : OP is mad that he has a bit of skin missing from his bishop.

Does it really matter that much? Babies also get vaccinations without their consent but it's no biggie.
Go take a look at a video of a baby or child being circumcised. Come back to this thread.
