well I got my braces today

I was unsure if it would be an option for me to get them today, but after taking pictures and using a high tech CAT scan X-ray they gave me the option so I went for it

During was so easy I only knew I was close to getting done by looking at my reflection in the hygienists glasses, and then it became progressively more obvious when they were adding the wires, a spring, and bite turbos (so I don't grind my bottom back teeth into nothing)

All im experience so far is an awkward mild discomfort from elastics and the bite turbos

I hope the bite turbos aren't like this much longer, every time I try to bite down my top row can't make contact with the bottom row and it bugs me so bad (yes I know its doing its job)

Pray tell what was I supposed to do then? Everything else was out of focus when I was in that chair for about 2 hours

Trust me, you'll definitely get used to it. Your first 1-2 weeks you're mouth is going to hurt from all the movement and the brackets rubbing against your gums so don't be afraid to use wax. I'm on my fourth phase of braces and have had a lot done to my mouth... If you have any questions, feel free to pm me

Elastics suck, bite turbos aren't that great either, hopefully things get better because right now sll I seem to be feeling is continually worse discomfort from the elastics (kinda feels like the gums are worn out, which im hoping means its working very good)

@ichiachen: It was like a dull pain. I took advil or ibuprofen if it got bad enough. I did forget occasionally but not often.

Have fun with those.[/quote]

My dental insurance has a cut off age for braces, which is either 18 or 19, so im more than a little too late for insurance to do anything

@icephoenix21: doesn't it hurt? and did you sometimes forget to wear your rubber bands

@ichiachen: I didn't wear them when I was eating and I was fine.

The wax thing sucks. I tried using it for awhile but gave up and just kinda dealt with any poking

Wearing rubber bands rn, do you wear 24/7 or is it fine if u subtract like 3 hrs for eating, do you still get it taken off at estimated date?

Make sure to wear your rubber bands when they tell you to if you want to get them off at your estimated date/time!

I had braces when I was 14. Straight, nice smile now.

10/10 would recommend.

Oh damn son, springs and a bite turbo? I was living that life for a good 6-8 months. My jaw still gets locked up in the morning from all the stress it put on my mouth, but my teeth are all straight which is what counts. Hope your experience doesn't suck

How old are you?
