I believe the bigwig requirements are very similar to tespia requirements geared towards people who have played for a long time or have spent a lot of nx and have never gotten banned, but no one's exactly sure how it works.
@xBabiigirl: This was back in 2009/10 I think. They might have met the limit of Maple Biwigs or they didn;t check you etc. Hopefully one day they'll bring this program back, I hardly ever see anymore BigWigs anymore
It's basically a giant status symbol that shouts to other players, "Look at me! I've bought and used a lot of NX!"
The medal is trumped by better ones further down the line ([i]e.g.: Neo City Time Traveler[/i] ), but the chair looks awesome and heals 100 HP/MP every ten seconds.

that was a loyality event after a huge hack, nexon gave 3 coupons that you must gave to 3 different friends, when they opened the gift a re-gift box appeared on their inv to send it back to you, so you can get at least 3k maple points they gave also a chair and a medal everything was nxless

Not enough NX spent, not enough time spent online.
On the other hand, I got BigWig on 3 out of 4 of my accounts

i got lucky, cause they gave em out during the summer when im on for a looong time.
its for the people who are active/bought nx.

it was an event quite a while ago where nexon gave rewards to random people. I never got one
I got it on my aran last summer. All they said was that it was a reward for being an active mapler.
I got mine on my 102 mercedes
I have done nothing at all to support Nexon, but I have played a long time.
I got mine from being a "big" spender over the years with NX. Kind of a thank you gift from Nexon for buying (lots of) NX.
