Dragon and the Knight

A dragon and knight live on an island. This island has seven poisoned wells, numbered 1 to 7. If you drink from a well, you can only save yourself by drinking from a higher numbered well. Well 7 is located at the top of a high mountain, so only the dragon can reach it.

One day they decide that the island isn't big enough for the two of them, and they have a duel. Each of them brings a glass of water to the duel, they exchange glasses, and drink. After the duel, the knight lives and the dragon dies.

Why did the knight live? Why did the dragon die?

@PhreshPrynce: I'm pretty sure it would still die by drinking sea water even if its a dragon. Sea water takes any types of water OUT of you causing dehydration and subsequently death

Then he'll use sea water. How would the dragon even know he's drinking seawater anyway? No one knows what poison taste like.

Lol if the knight brings from 1 and the dragon brings from 7 and they exachange the knight gets 7 and the dragon gets 1, the knight dies, the dragon lives.

The knights first thought was of his survival. In order to ensure his survival, prior to the duel he must drink from well 1 and poison himself so that any well water the dragon gives him will cure him. Even If the dragon gives him clean water he'll see he's still poisoned and drink from well 2. Even if the dragon gives him well 1 water, he'll know he's still poisoned and drink from well 2. He will be okay no matter what as long as he drinks from well 1 first.

Now, to kill the dragon. The knight and dragon both know that only the dragon has access to well 7 water so the knight suspects thats what the dragon will bring anyway. They are on an island.. all the knight had to do was fill a cup with clean water/ocean water or w.e and give it to the dragon. The dragon will suspect that its poison from one of the wells and never think for a second that the water is actually clean so he flies all the way to the top of the mountain to drink from well 7. Why? Because he suspected the knight must have given him water from any of the Wells and a simple drink from the 7th will cure him regardless of which well.

This is where he messes up. Because he isnt poisoned at all, drinking from well 7 is fatal because there is no higher level well to cure him.

In the end, the knight cures himself from the cup recieved from the dragon, while the dragon poisons himself by drinking from well 7 in a desperate attenpt to cure himself when he was never poisoned in the first place.

Thats how the knight lives and the dragon dies.
Cus knights have a tendancy to slay dragons. An uncontrollable impulse driven by honor, duty and instinct.

Well tbh ive heard this one before... here goes le spoilers.

The knight drinks from a poisoned well before the duel. Then brings a glass of clean water to the duel. The dragon then gives the knight well 7 poison water which cures the knight because he has now drank from a higher numbered well. The dragon then drinks clean water from the knight thinking its poisoned then flies over to well 7 to drink from it to cure himself but well 7 kills him because he wasnt poisoned in the first place.

Gg dragon.
I guess it was bad practice of me to assume the wells were the only source of water on the island but I can see how that could have been a solution 0:

here's what i think...
the knight lived because he drinks from the lower number wells, so he was saved from drinking well 7 water that the dragon gave him.
the dragon died because the knight gave him seawater. the dragon must've thought the water given to him was poison and flew to well 7 thinking he'll be cured. he dies after drinking from the well because there's nothing that can cure him.

Because the knight drank from a higher number well than the dragon.
