My prediction on Nexons future moves

[header]Intro[/header]

Hi, My name is Shel,

I goofed trying to post this this thread a few minutes ago, and locked it right away lol. ANYWAYS...

Okay so I was thinking the other day at work about Nexon and what
they might do in the future to rake in 'dat cash (Yes I think about Maple sometimes at work,
big whoop, wanna fight about it?)

And I think I have a theory about what they might do, post damage cap increase to give
all of us a boost in damage to be able to actually hit the 50m cap...

[header2]The Pattern[/header2]

Okay, so we all know the color pattern for scrolling:

Orange > Blue > Purple > Yellow > Green > Red, Right? Right!

And the color pattern for potential tiers:

Blue(Rare) > Purple(Epic) > Yellow(Unique) > Green(Legendary)...

See a pattern? Nexon followed the same pattern as scrolling (Minus the Orange from the scroll tiers).

[header2]My theory[/header2]

My theory is that Nexon will eventually add a new tier for potential-ed gear which will
have the outline color in RED. I really don't think it will be that far fetched
if they did this. Do you?

Example: New potential tier "Supreme"(lolidunno)

TIER CHART

Equips levels 0-30: Rare-1%, Epic-2%, Unique-3% Legendary-4% Supreme-5%
Equips levels 31-70: Rare-2%, Epic-4%, Unique-6% Legendary-8% Supreme-10%
Equips levels 71+: Rare-3%, Epic-6%, Unique-9% Legendary- 12% Supreme-15%

This new potential will come with new cubes which you can only get in the (you guessed it) CASH SHOP!

Amazing Miracle Cube ~ (2,200 NX) A mysterious cube. Said to bring out the hidden potential of equipment.
Has a greater chance of increasing the rank of your equipment than the Regular Miracle Cube and Super Miracle Cube.
Amazing Miracle Cubes have a chance to raise Legendary potential tier equipment to the highest Potential tier: Supreme.
Once your items reach the Supreme Potential tier, only Amazing Miracle Cubes can be used on them to reset their stats.
They also perform the function of resetting potential stats on items with revealed potential items like regular
Miracle Cubes, but they have a greater chance to raise an item's potential tier than regular Miracle Cubes and Super
Miracle Cubes.

Again this is all speculation, and I have no idea if Nexon will go this far, although I wouldn't
put it past them. Tell me what you guys think of my theory, if you agree with my assumptions, or not. Feel free
to put your own speculations in as well.

~Cheers

@BlkTwitch: It was an off-topic comment followed by an "anyway". and I thought you wanted feedback about 'your' theory o.o but okay whatever.

FYI, this dicussion was raised with the release of the legendary tier and due to the fact that it conincidentally followed the scrolling success colours. I did a quick google search and found a few:

1 July 2012 - http://www.basilmarket.com/forum/2442160/2/Possible_5th_potential_tier.html
12 January 2012 - http://www.basilmarket.com/forum/2318334/2/Next_tier_potential_after_legendary.html

It'd be nice if you read and respond to the whole comment and put it into context rather than firing off at a single line.
This was raised a couple of times on BasilMarket so I don't see the originality of this thread.

Anyway, if this was to happen why didn't they implement this before making a "bonus potential" line? It'd make sense to build upon what already exists but instead they made a bonus potential system to add 2 extra lines of rare to legendary(I think). Why couldn't they just change the hidden potential colour to orange to make way for the red potential tier?

They have left potential(lul pun not intended) for the equips to roll in that way but I don't see it coming or at least not anytime soon.

Personally I'd rather they look into halving the damage formula and halving the boss' HP, so I don't have to see massive numbers covering my screen.
Who said anything about this thread being original? I haven't ever seen another thread like this one anyways, ever. If you can point me in the direction of such a thread please do so.

@QuackOutLoud IMO Unique sounded like a last tier kind of name. But that didn't really stop them from adding an extra tier.

Even if they don't add an extra tier of potential, I can count on them introducing some other type of bonus potential system.
What about it doesn't sounds reasonable? I think it makes a lot of sense.
I mean, come on. There is already 4 tiers, and Legendary doesn't sound like a last tier kind of name?

I did also say that they might add some sort of extra potential like before (such as Nebulite, Additional Potential), which sounds entirely possible.

That sounds more accurate. But why Magenta?

Last tier would be magenta, not red.
Probably be called something stupid like "Godly" potential. *lol*
The new cubes for them will probably be around 2.6k nx each.. idk just following reg cube -> super cube price difference.
@BlkTwitch: Just the general transition from right after big bang to now, and how several new upgrade systems have been added to the game, like additional potential, the honor potential, and even nebulites. I'm not just talking about the damage people do, but the methods people use to attain that damage.

Off topic, but I think they are giving average players a chance too with suspicious cubes and higher drop rates to achieve a good range. Even though it will be hard, it will be possible to make your own equipment. (5-10x higher drop rate <3)
You make a valid point. But I am referring to how I think Nexon will possibly add a new tier for potential equipment to help the overly funded players hit the new damage cap in the future. Just a hunch of mine.
Personally, I think Nexon is much more organized then we give them credit for. Maybe all the things they have added to the game up to now have actually been planned additions to the game which will make the transition to this new damage cap easier. I think it was time for change when Zakum was killed in under two seconds.
What changes are you referring to? Unless they do a complete overhaul on the system, no one will be hitting 50m any time soon. Maybe a select few extremely funded if anything.

I can see it now, about one and a half years from now, half the Nexon Cash shop for Maplestory will be filled with cubes for potential.

Hell, they may even have a special page/tab dedicated to it.

My thoughts on what Nexon America's response to the KMS winter update:

"We understand that our Korean counterparts have drawn up an update, but given that it is a stupid ass update, we have elected to ignore it."

Hopefully...
