Lost my Driving Confidence

Hey guys, so I recently got into a minor car accident (my car damaged, other's was pretty much fine, no one hurt) that was completely avoidable and 100% due to my carelessness. Luckily it won't cost too much, but I've been pretty shaken up by it. I got my license about half a year ago (which is not very long) and I thought that I'd been driving safely. I haven't had any issues besides this one, but made a careless decision this time, and it cost me. My parents weren't as mad as I thought they'd be, just trying to cheer me up about it, but I'm having a lot of regrets about the whole thing and am worried that I'll screw up again. I really don't know... I feel really guilty and shtty about what I caused and the money cost. Do these feelings just go away with time? Can anyone offer me some advice?
Thanks guys

No clue if those feelings actually go away with time. But I assume that they probably do.

Just don't worry about it. Put it in the past. Move on. Lingering on those thoughts will probably only make you an overly-cautious driver (which, imo, is a dangerous driver).

I've been driving for 2 yrs and I've never been in an accident but I've banged up my car pretty bad on posts/polls in parking lots because i have terrible depth perception
I'm convinced I'll never get any better so idk, you just have to accept ur fate

-hugs- my mom's been driving for over 30+ years, but she recently got into a car accident even though she's a careful driver and doesn't even have a record !
I hope that you'll get better and i'm happy that you're okay ^__^
I got into 3 accidents, all because the drivers were being careless/drove too fast, so i'm scared to drive again too ..

My mother failed the road test 3 times when she took it.
She is the slowest driver I know and in the past 5 years has never gotten into any accidents..

Just keep on driving. Really. Just pay attention to the road more and less to anything interior of the car. I've almost gotten into 2 accidents after I had switched over to a manual car. To be fair, normal manuals are better than autos but I have a sports car gear box that isn't happy or easy when driving slow.

Yes, the chills will go away with time. Probably sooner than you'd think. It's great that your parents are there for you -- understanding and supportive of it all. Thank god no one was hurt! Like the poster above me noted, take it as a reminder to drive better, and be glad that it wasn't any worse.

You'll be just fine. =)

what can fix your confidence?

Training and review and practice and review the safety features of your car to understand how safe you are.
