Hey Guys, Lets Solve the Fiscal Cliff Crisis

Sunday evening, the time of procrastination- Are there any well versed people in politics here that can help?
So, for U.S. Gov class, we're supposed to think up of a reasonable way to get out of the fiscal cliff crisis, and lower the national debt/deficit/etc.
From my very, very basic understanding, the government does this by cutting certain government budget programs and raising taxes. (Our group also plans to drop U.S. military budget from 600 bil to 300 bil, because who needs that much anyways?)
However, how does one go about this without ticking off either Democrats or Republicans? (No way to cut Obamacare-Democrats mad, Taxing the wealthy- Republicans mad?)
Anyone have any ideas? I just don't know how we're supposed to resolve something that actual government officials cannot do.

Just to note, I know nothing about economy and these are just guesses.

You have a good start, but you want to consider the lost jobs from budget cuts. You'll need to pump money into the economy to create production jobs for GDP. It's difficult but I heard the US debt is predicted to go under a trillion soon.[/quote]

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I feel that if you try to solve one problem, you almost always end up screwing over something else. Arghhh this can get frustrating
