Thoughts/opinions on this situation?

Hey guys, so I know this a pretty petty/insignificant thing to complain about, but I'm a little irritated about how my friend (friend A) acted in this situation. So basically I was in an online group call w/ two people, friend A and friend B, and we were just playing video games and talking. I thought that Friend B was acting kind of strange and a bit annoying, and I'm sure that Friend A realized this too. So I send Friend A a text outside of the call saying something along the lines of "What's up with Friend B...?" After this he proceeds to say things like this in the group call: "Hey BlueReborn, why are u texting me about Friend B --- oh you're trash talking friend B" I was just thinking, are you serious man? I texted you in private for a reason. After he said that I was able to make up some excuse and not get friend B pissed off, but it irritates me that friend A was just intentionally trying to start an argument in the convo.
Now I know I'm not in the right either because I was talking behind Friend B's back, but what do you guys think?
