You can't remove them completely, but you can switch off the annoying numbers all over the screen effect.
Go into the System menu in the game. There's an option that lets you choose between the "cascading" damage numbers (what it defaults to now) and the "classic" (or whatever) numbers, the "old" way of showing the damage numbers.

There are some online games that you can edit appearances client side but it its still bannable.
there is in kms but that patch wont come for another 6 months

I don't think its possible to remove the damage numbers
