Ds is more balanced towards large scale attacks and overall utility. Da on the other hand is leaned more towards compact areas of fast, high damage attacking.
From personal experience DA's have the upperhand here.
29% HP alone from character cards/link skills. (25% Kaiser and Cannoneer, 4% from DrK level 101+ character card.) Not only that but they don't even need pots unless you're at bosses and such. They hit high for a character without much funds and would benefit a lot more from %HP earlier on than a DS with%STR.
imo ds will benefit the most from that funding because although %hp is cheaper its also a lot rarer so the chances of you finding good %hp gear is slim to none

Personally, I prefer DS's, simply because they have a much bigger diversity in skills while DA's will be spamming Execution most of the time.

I'd go with Demon Slayer, especially with those new buffs on Impact and Cry.
