How to get equips etc. on unfunded acct
Hi, I'm playing Maplestory again after several years of not playing, and I'm running into an issue where I have extremely underleveled equips just because there aren't NPCs that sell them, and I don't have money to go to the FM and buy them (even if they were there). Is my best option to just go kill mobs who typically drop them or?

Elite monsters will drop corresponding level equipment quite often, so just train normally in maps where elite monsters can spawn.
Until Level 60, Tot has you covered with armor. NPCs do sell equips up to level 80 in some places, but generally it's not worth the trouble since those levels go by very quickly due to RNJ. Monster Park Extreme also has level 60 equips that are always epic, though you can only get them at level 100 now after the nerf. These equips with the correct %stat will generally be better than whatever Level 100/110 equips you'll also find there. And then it's kind of a dry spell until you can afford empress equips at level 140.
Start crafting daily. Do the current events for the bonus pot scrolls and inv expansions. Get the cube from the crown event and sell service to a friend.
Currently its very easy to make mesos. But the #1 way i say to make money is go stalk elite bosses and get the prot scrolls if lucky or just sell clean slates for 30-40m each. On average i get one clean slate per boss.
-Tot's Boxes (20-60) give a new set of equips every ten levels
-Monsters drop equips a lot more often in general now, hunt ones around your level - when you pick up their monster card, check it in your crusader codex to see what equips it drops. Can also double click the monster on the field to have it auto-open their codex page.
-Monster Park (I believe it's 100+ now) monsters drop tons of equips. Same for Monster Park Extreme (also 100+ now)
-Evo Lab (105+) gather or buy the equip drop and droprate%+ cores to gather equips from the monsters. Link 3 is probably the easiest place to farm them.
-High level equips can be obtained through bossing, I believe. Something I haven't invested much time in yet.
I get tons of equips training and usually just extract them for crystals to sell. Then I put that money toward buying higher level equips in the free market.
-If all else fails, you could always craft equips with mining+blacksmith professions. This requires getting into the new profession and crafting systems. Mine the ores (ardent has a huge assortment accessible through the portal at bottom right of the map), make them into jewels/plates/powders, then use them to craft armors and weapons with blacksmith. The item crystals needed, however, are obtained through alchemy or by using someone's extractor set-up for a small fee.
-edit: forgot to mention Elite Monsters. They spawn on maps while you're training, every few minutes. They often drop equips with potentials.
Pretty much yeah, also crafting works, though the level of the equip generally doesn't matter unless it's 140 or 150, as long as you have a good potential on it.
