Windows update hasn't been working on my laptop for the better part of the past year, for whatever reason, so I'm sticking with 8.1 until this computer dies.
Which knowing my record with computers, will probably be another 6 or so years.
How long do i have to reserve a copy? Im still looking for a new laptop for college

Also? anyone with the tech preveiw get maple to run? Or will i have to run in compatibility mode...
I have installed the Windows 10 Tech Preview and MapleStory Runs as smooth as it can run. Also I've tested these other games and they run at their max fps too. Warframe, Neverwinter Online and League Of Legends. It is faster and lighter than any other version of windows.

My Rig:

CPU: Intel i7 3770k Quad-Core Overclocked @ 4.5Ghz (HT- 8 threads) (Water-cooled)
RAM: Corsair Veangeance 16gb ddr3 1600mhz
SSD: OCZ Vertex 3
HDD: Samsung
GPU: Evga Gtx 670 FTW 2GB (2 of them in SLI Mode) Both overclocked too.
PSU: Corsair 850W
OS: Windows 10 Technical Preview Build: 10130

Feel free to ask for some more tests or any information.

I want to say you have a year to reserve the copy, and then it is permanent.

OT : While Win10 is apparently helping the boot up times and has DX 12 to help with gaming, I'm not sure if I would upgrade right away... bugs are always sucky

If upgrading means I have to download and reinstall my 700GB collection of steam games, then I think I'm going to pass.

Probably will. If Microsoft stays on its "natural course of OS competency pattern" then Windows 10 should be good.
For those requiring information:
1) Only windows 7/8.1 are available for a free upgrade to windows 10 in its first year. (Windows 8 received a free update to Windows 8.1 through windows update)
2) Since windows 10 will be applied through windows update, Its most likely that all your programs and documents with remain intact.

Also if you happen to be running a Technical Preview of Windows 10, could you attempt to run Maplestory on it, and comment here how it performs? (Better/worse/same as windows 7/8/8.1)

I have windows 7 on my PC, which works great.
On my laptop I run windows 8, I've made a lot of changes to it but I still don't like it.
If windows 10 is anything like windows 8 I won't even try it.
Honestly, I have a PC not a tablet, stop trying to make the same operating system for both tablets and PC's, it just doesn't work..

it has to do with a bug where programs read it as windows 98

Oh hell no. Windows 8 luckily runs smoothly and isn't all that buggy. With their reputation W10 is gonna be horse crap for the first year or two until it gets debugged. I don't have a single problem with W8 atm so I'll stick to this.

@bomberb0i2: As in if I upgrade to W10 my microsoft office licence will remain? So I don't have to buy a new microsoft offfice package (excel, world, pp..etc). Even though the version I currently use with my w7 laptop is 2007. I'm wondering if that will transfer over to the W10.
I've reserved mine. Won't install it for a while after I download it. My guess is maple won't be compatible right away or will have severe issues.

Does anybody know if you do decide to upgrade to W10 if your microsoft office package gets removed?
what do u mena by the packages? cuz from what i've read and heard from the experts is that everything thats on ur win7/8 OS will just transfer over to 10
