And people act like bigotry is gone. lul

I just got done sitting at a table with a bunch of guys who talked dirty and then started to go on about how they weren't a beep. (bad word for gays)

They weren't trying to be rude or anything, but it just showed how ignorant people still are sometimes.

Share stories if ya got em.

@primalfurey: I wouldnt want everyone to be gay... not at all.... nor would I want everyone to be the same race or sex....

@above: You could tell they were using it in a disgusted, hateful way.

The crass term for a gay person that starts with a certain letter and is three letters long has evolved beyond a rude usage on the Internet. It is now a term of endearment in most circles on the Internet.

Get with the times.

I don't get mad when someone calls me a "man" even though I'm actually a cisgendered transsexual homo-normative biracial privilege-checking non-labelled organic life vessel (calling myself a life "form" is demeaning to those of us who are trapped in a 1 dimension space where they can have no form).
It happens to me every day and I just shrug it off. They're too cis-privileged to understand the plight I face.
I said "that's gay" once. Then a gay guy next to me didn't care and we all moved on with our lives.
If you read my post, I don't think saying "that's gay" is really all that bad. It is when someone tries to use a term in a negative and hurtful way. Someone saying uggggg god I wouldnt want to be one of them stinking gays/chinese/american/women, is different then saying something as lighthearted as, that computer is gay.

Just to clarify, i dont believe the term gay or homosexual has a negative annotation that goes with it. The term they used does and it is meant to be used in a negative way.

@above: A lot of people I have been talking to online seem to think that most of bigotry is over. Like, it is almost nonexistent besides very rare cases. Maybe it is just the people that I have spoken with? But yeah, I hear a lot of people acting like a lot of racism, sexism, and hate against homosexuality is gone these days. I think they fail to realize the amount that is still left in America. My friend just visited Detroit and they were all very racist towards him because he is Chinese. The asian population is very low and he even had someone call him a Chinaman.

who even? said bigotry is over?
there is still sexism and racism (all part of bigotry) and we haven't even addressed issues on the same scale with groups like gays or trans* etc. there's still religious intolerance and all that too. bigotry will never be gone.
so there's was this one time that people kept using ignorant as a word to say "something i personally don't like"

i know, dumb right?
No, that isn't what I was saying. -_- Nice try... most of the time people use rude terms or talk bad about a group or race is because they have a lack of knowledge and information about that group. Hence the ignorance. I feel like, if people truly understood some of the hurt the terms caused, they would be more careful. I understand people using gay as slang for stupid. (even though I think that is bad practice, it is common) However, using a word that I wont use, for gays, is incredibly rude.
