Well some people are simply unappreciative, but some parents deserve the resentment, honestly. Just because someone became a parent doesn't mean they were fit to be one. So children aren't obligated to like what bad parents put them through. And there's a difference, between tough/strict parenting that the children hate, and actual bad parenting.

For instance, for the 5 years I've been with my gf, her mom has not worked at all. And for a while she was completely reliant on her for money. Like, what kind of parent takes money from their child, does who knows what with it in a matter of 1-2 days (and I mean $200-$300 gone in literally a couple of days), and then complains and uses guilt trips to get [i]more[/i] money? And this was every pay check not just once or twice. She's not handicapped or disabled in any kind of way, she actually goes all over town on a daily basis hanging out with people, she just doesn't work. I finally talked some sense into my gf about not letting her be guilt tripped so easily because she was literally giving her mom 90% of her paycheck for a while there and her mom had the nerve to say the reason my gf didn't have any money was because she didn't know how to budget. We're like wtf?

Either too angsty to appreciate them or they have legitimate reasons for hating them because they are terrible parents.

Some peoples' parents are just jerks, and it's probably gonna be kept in the family.

We with awesome parents find it hard to understand.

Just a tip, don't go to college and be put into a ton of debt for a job that doesn't get you paid. College is for high paying jobs.

i love my parents. they are absolute legends, far superior to any of your parents

I hate only my dad because he was never around when my sister and i were young and now that he has a new girlfriend who has grandchildren he plays with them and all that stuff.

What happened back then, rules back then, lifestyle back then. Not necessarily applies to today's situation.

well u could have parents like me that dont love me enough to even give me a note 3 for christmas.

smh they gave me a note 2 saying that's all they could give me. maybe if my parents would have been more responsible and not crashed their car they'd be able to do something but no i guess nothing will do. like always.

It's because of the inequality/imbalance. Children aren't always right, and neither are parents. But even if the parents are wrong, since they're adults, they end up being "right" anyway.

- they don't understand how much they should appreciate them yet
- they're too stubborn to realize that their parents are indeed right about some things (as they've lived and experienced life longer)
- they have a reason to hate them due to serious family conflicts/issues
