R4 for new N3DS XL worth getting?
Is the R4 worth getting for my new N3DS XL(or anything similar)? I remember having one for my DS around 6 years ago, but overtime the R4 stopped working and was so glitchy/buggy that I couldn't even play it anymore. I plan on downloading games such as Pokemon ORAS/XY, Animal Crossing, and some other things.
I've also heard that a lot of the websites that host the roms for the games have shut down, I'm hoping that it won't be hard to find websites that host these roms.
It's almost ridiculous how one game costs around $50, I'd rather save money by buying a R4 and downloading games through it.

@caca: I just got it at around 10am on black friday. And oh my goooood~! It works. This is absolutely fabulous! WORTH EVERY PENNY. I just downloaded a 'New Super Mario Bros 2' rom to test it and loaded it onto the sky3ds cart and well... IT WORKS. OMG. I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT. DFHJKGDFHKG

$114 WELL SPENT. I'm about to download Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate & Pokemon Alpha Sapphire tomorrow. I just need to vast in the glory that is the sky3ds tonight. It's sooo wonderful. FGDFGDFDFG
@caca: the 3DS carts are a lot more expensive
@shini @dupants oh i see, sucks that it's $80 for it, thought it'd be a lot less cheaper but i guess that beats out having to buy games

@caca: Yeah as @dupants said... Sky3DS & Gateway is literally the only things similar to anything related to stuff like R4 as of right now.
However since you're a 'New 3DS' owner. Your only option would be to get the Sky3DS since it's the only thing that's compatible with the newest hardware & with the 'New 3DS' Systems.
I should be getting my Sky3DS in about... Either tomorrow or Saturday morning. If i don't get it in 4-7 days from Monday the 23rd. I'm entitled to a refunded according to their policies.
Sky3DS and Gateway is the equivalent of R4 for the 3DS as of right now. I bought a Gateway it was like $80 I think. I have yet to use it though because my 3DS was recently updated. So now I gotta wait until they come out with a new patch.
@shinl i'm not interested in playing any other roms from other systems. just the roms from n3ds is good enough for me.

There is no R4 for the 3ds. I should refer you to the sky3ds cart. It's literally the only thing around that's similar to something like the; R4, TTDS, etc. You should check out the last few posts in my thread about me having a $50-$60 budget for 3DS games.
I just purchased my Sky3DS cart last night i think & it already shipped. I should receive it around blackfriday or thanks giving.
Unfortunately, literally the only thing you could do with the sky3ds cart is download 3DS roms and play them. Nothing more, nothing less. No homebrew, no cheats, no eShop stuff, no playing roms from other systems...
It actually costed me $75.90 for mine. I'd look into buying it now if you're interested since it's only $75.90 due to black-friday week i think. The original price is actually over $100+
I could PM you the link if you want to know. Can't post it publicly since i know it'd be against the rules. However I'm not sure if the basil mods really are concerned about this sort of thing.
I'm not going to worry or look into websites to obtain 3DS roms until i receive this sky3ds cart and figure out how to use it.
