If you hammer an item with the 50% golden hammers and it fails, can you still clean slate it to get the slot back?

Yes you can get the slot back. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't done it.
@caelanseto: I'm saying that you can't. It's just like the veteran hunter scrolls for Silent Crusade. The scroll might work, but the stats don't necessarily apply to the item. It sucks, I know.
It uses up a hammer and if it fails it doesnt add a slot but it will say vicious hammers used, (1) instead of 0
thought it said that it will use up a hammer slot if it succeeds/fails
@themags I am asking if it fails, can you still get the slot back?

Based on the description, It says you lose that one of two times to get an additional slot. basically, it's like a scroll for getting additional slots. It's not 100% like the cash shop counterpart.
