What resolution do you guys use?

I just want to know what resolution you guys use for web browsing and other stuff. Because I'm forced to share my computer with my mother (who doesn't even know about what resolution is), I'm forced to use 1024 x 768 whilst my monitor can handle 1680 x 1050 because she says she can't see anything (because everything's too small for her). She says that the low crap resolution won't stuff up my eyesight and that she bought our 22' monitor so we can have the screen 'big'. Basically, she's saying we bought our monitor so it can run a crap resolution.
