Marksman

Thinking about making a Marksman

I really want to make a marksman since its such a rare class these days and i plan on making an entire empress set with it because i most likely wont make anymore bowman classes and cant reuse any of the equips i give it. Although everyones telling me that i shouldnt since its such a bad class apparently. can anyone tell me if i should or not? it will be a UA marksman as well.

Make it if you really love the play style. It's so nice, I made it twice.

@CheifWarking:

My marksman is UA, and I suggest making a regular one. Right now, the UA "benefits" are almost useless. The sprite summon neither hits fast enough or reach long enough (in comparison to the MM summons) to inflict the little damage it does. The UA skill looks really cool but the actual MM skills outshine it.

You do get an exclusive medal if collecting medals is your thing. But then, you also get less inventory space (-4 per tab).

My main is a pally too. Marksman is really fun, I just don't like the inconvenience of potting often as I'm used to my pally.
Playing a MM can be a "challenge", so if you're looking for one, go ahead.

I'm saying that because I'm used to playing a Paladin.

By comparison, MM's require more attention and focus while playing. You NEED to watch your HP and potion count. If you're a new player or not funded, buying (not crafting) potions will cost you. And, at Level 100+, You will use potions often. Every 1-2 hits actually.

Also, using skills on mobs will be situational.

- Blizzard, Arrow Rain, Dragon Breath, Pierce, occasional strafe/snipe, Puppet, use Potion

Compared to Pally

- Buff, rush, advanced charge bl0w,

On Bosses:

MM: Puppet, use potion, strafe, use potion, strafe, use potion...
Pally: Blast,

(You get the point)

As you can see, my MAIN is a pally, and its almost 200 i live for challenges
and as for healing im down with watching the hp bar as i am pretty good at healing. however, i still don't know whether to make a UA or not. i do want so make other classes UA as well, but i just wanna know if the benefits marksmen get for being UA is worth it if HP isnt the problem
@SodiumOH: Ehhh I'd disagree about training and HP worries. Aliens from 90-110 were no problem potting-wise for me, and at LHC the monsters hit about 1k damage. That's about a 3-5HKO depending on how much HP your marksman has from character cards, cannoneer link skill, etc. Now that I've maxed spirit link, I have about 9-10k HP at LHC, which means about a 9-10HKO, which isn't bad at all. SH is another story altogether.

I'm poor as hell and when I need a few mil for pots, I just do the zak prequest and sell eyes of fire. Enough pots to last me several hours.
uhm, puppet absorbs some of the dmg taken , i recommend maxing will power for extra 2k hp, also do the silent crusade quests so you get that label above your head for another hp increase.

i just made a sniper, lv 87.
i can't say that i'm enjoying it though, since pre 4th job is always a drag >.<
i'm pretty sure that it will be a lot funner by 4th job though.

Hero's makes a big difference too. even without hero's will i survive bosses such as czak o.o.
the 30% dodge would only benefit me in pvp, i'm fine at bosses .

@airforce1 my survivability is fine =o , the people that had problems surviving as a marksman shouldn't anymore either. i mean spirit link is 40% hp now.

@CheifWarking you could always ask me to demonstrate the gameplay of a marksman. made mine in 2005, it's still my main. =)

Who says it's a bad class? MM have excellent 1v1 damage (assuming you don't hit cap) and the best mobbing damage in the game. The only down side is low survivability until they get around to fixing Illusion Step.

Don't make it a UA though, you need all the HP you can get and wind piercing is worse than your normal skills.

not the best of damages with equal funds, but a really fun class

MM? A bad class? If I had to make another class as my main, it would be Marksmen hands down...okay maybe Drk...but Marksmen is pretty up there. But I am talking from my perspective of fun.
Although everyones telling me that i shouldnt since its such a bad class apparently.
If you've had a marksman you would love that class! I don't know why people think they are "bad", low HP? (not really, not in my opinion), a weapon that covers your face? (whoever thinks that it makes a character "ugly" is being a little too vain, we don't need to see our pixel faces all the time). If you want to make one, then go for it. Although as someone pointed out, an UA marksman has lower HP than a regular marksman, and wind piercing isn't useful as you max arrow piercing. So you might want to consider going either regular or UA. It's up to you. Although I do agree with the small inventory slots Marksmen are really fun, they have good mob skills, 1v1 isn't bad either, good mobility and my HP have never prevented me from bossing either. I love having frostprey and puppet out to accompany me as well

I don't think a UA Marksman is worthwhile. The UA skill isn't all that useful, not to mention you have less inventory space, which is never a good thing.

The class it pretty fun, no doubt! They're rare indeed, not many are seen. Go ahead and make one. Don't worry about empress equipment right now, just worry about getting to 120+ to see if you're actually going to stick to it.
