Prom for the first time

So I got ask to prom and its my first time. I'm a sophomore guy asked by a senior girl. I'm not really sure about anything I should do. Pretty much I'm asking any advice and tip that can get me through the night. Sorry for vagueness.
yeah I guess that sounds good lol. Since you're just going as friends I suppose you can skip a lot of the formal stuff I mentioned. Goodluck and have fun

Unfortunately I'm too old for proms now Unless my college has a prom (I've heard they have dances but ehh...I don't care much for non-formal ones). Plus I've been on a dating hiatus since high school too, but I should probably move on from that at some point. All because my high school sweetheart dumped me years ago doesn't mean I should keep punishing myself But since then I've just seemed to have lost that fuzzy feeling you get when you crush on someone. Life's complicated but at least as a single monk I can pass my wisdom on to the younger generations lol
I guess that's a definite upside! And yes I know... I'm a college student too. Right now I'm working on Business class work <3

dont if its your best friend's sister.

You probably don't want to tell her she's beautiful if she's your best friend's sister.

Something along the lines of "that's a nice dress" would be suffice.
lol yes that's another thing you can't forget, open the car door for her as well. Tell her she looks pretty at some point too, but not in a blunt or forced way. You've gotta be smooth with it, cause she'll tell when you're forcing it and probably call you cute for it lol (as in a you're a cute boy not worth getting laid t.t, spoken from mucho experience lol)
*edit: @ChosenOne777: yeah that seems like it'd be a pain then...suits in general are already expensive, average prom nights can cost $200+ in just food, admissions, corsages and clothing. There are smaller stores that allow you to order suits (that's how it was done in my town). Just go to a clothing store and ask if there's any places to rent formal clothing, cause most towns have at least one place like that. They'll take your measurements and show you different materials to choose from, and they'll give you a catalog to look through so you can choose which style you think looks best. Make sure to do this like 1-2 weeks in advance of the dance though, cause it takes them time to tailor your suit and ship it out to your store. Then they'll tell you when you can pick it up and when you need to return it by. They'll charge you a late fee if you're late obviously, and they'll check over the suit for any damages when you turn it in as well so make sure to take care of it
Well you're going to need to get a suit that's a color matching her dress. So she'll tell you what color her dress is (or give you a pic or a piece of material) and then you'll go down to a men's warehouse and browse through their suits and stuff (you'll probably just rent it for a couple days, suits are expensive and don't ruin it otherwise you'll be in the hole $400+). Once you've got your suit you'll need to buy her a corsage (she'll buy one for you) and for girls I find it's better to get them a bracelet corsage so you don't have to worry about messing up their dress. She'll probably get you a corsage that will fit on the flap of your suit jacket, and when you meet up before the dance you'll put the corsages on each other and let your parents/friends take pictures of you two.

Plan out what you're going to do before the dance beforehand, don't just pick her up and go along with whatever. Decide on where you're going to eat at and where you'll go after the prom (usually there's a party or something to go to afterwords). Also, eat before you get dressed up. You may even need to do it a few hours in advance depending on when she wants to have her hair done. Once you're dressed and have your corsages exchanged, you'll drive to the prom and meet up with your/her friends (since she's a senior I'm guessing it will mostly be her friends there, just go along with it and don't act bored lol). Be sure to dance with her often but you don't need to be dancing the whole time. If you're trying to get with her then be sure to kiss her during a slow dance near the end of the prom.

After the prom go back to one of your houses and change out of your formal clothes into regular stuff for the after parties. Then just go around and hang out and do whatever lol. Be a classy guy though, proms are just formal dances and it's not like the movies where you get laid automatically at the end. Don't ignore her either, I've done that a couple times and it's not something I recommend. My first prom was similar to yours, I had a senior girl in my calculus class ask me and I was completely clueless too lol. But yeah, all I can say is don't expect it to be like a movie. The night's what you make of it
Nice, that was really helpful. I think the only real problem I have is mostly clothing because I live in a small town so getting a suit is a 1hr drive away. Picking her up becausewe are going on a party bus. And the after party because if she want to go then ill have to go and I'm a good kid xD

Pretty much rent a tux and go to the prom with her.
Just seems like she's desperate for a date.
Do what seems fitting. Do what other guys are doing?
