Zero doesnt work with my left alt key

Title explains my problem in a nutshell.
I'd give examples, but accented letters are blocked on basil for one reason or another.

So, (before today), when I used left alt + 0233, I'd get an accented "e."
No, when I use left alt + 0233, I get an accented "u," which tells me that left alt and zero have stopped working together.
idk why. It now only works with my right alt key.
It was never like this before,
And if anyone could help that would be great.

And yes, I've made this thread in Non-MS Tech.
I'm making it here as well because this forum is far more active, and I need this problem resolved ASAP if at all possible.

@ClementZ: I know how you feel, my culminating for one of my classes is a group project and my group members have poor origanizational and writing skills, so planning times to work on things is a giant pain in the butt and I have to edit all the writing that they do.

try taking off you 0 key on numpad and cleaning it off? If it doesn't work, it's probably the whole thing malfunctioning and you will need a new keyboard.
@Clements It will take a fair bit longer but write it without the accents and then go back through and replace them by copy pasting, if you're not willing to do that I think you're kinda screwed.
I'm doing that now.
This is all kinds of tedious.
And it doesn't help that I'm starting late because of movie troubles.
L`accent aigu? Circonflexe? Grave?
All of them, and then some lol.
They all need zero in conjunction with the left alt to work, and zero is the only thing that isn't working.
@SuberKieran: 0000. Yes.

Is the 0 from the numpad working when you aren't holding down ALT?
this.

yeah, it's really that simple OP
Lol I'm typing in french.

The accented e isn't the only accent I'll be using.

@Eruditez: English US, with the US keyboard. Not sure this is it, because zero on the number pad is the only key that isn't working with the left alt button. All other keys on the number pad work.

What language is currently being used for your keyboard? It might have been switched
@ClementZ Well given the implied urgency I take it you're writing a paper or something, I can't help you solve the problem at it's roots but for now I would recommend just copying an accented "e" and pasting it with ctrl+V whenever you need one.
Have you tried using a key mapper?
Just get a new keyboard for under $20 you derp
It's 22:54
I'd like to have this fixed by the end of tonight lol.
And that alt key works with every other key, aside from zero.
I'd rather not replace it if it isn't exactly broken.
