To answer your orginal question, go for a full set of Cra gear as that is much better than empress set. Finish the gollux quest line of you haven't already and go for scrolling your own equips, your tatto can be recubed a bit if you have some nx for spare, work for a superior gollux ring as that isn't too hard to get, epic scroll your new gear, try to 3 lined equips, you should be able to

If you're looking for a class that can boss alongside your Battle Mage on a different computer or something, I'd say either a Kanna or a Pally. Kannas have 2 binds and the Bellflower Barrier is useful and Pallies have CO, 1 bind, crash, threaten, and res. You also probably won't have to worry about a pally dying.
As for funding, generally Dex equips are cheapest (after %hp)

Either way, you're going to need to spend a lot.

2. RA weapon
3. Spell trace everything but your weapon with 70% and enhance to 10 stars

You're going to need almost all new gear o.o

Need Cra set, Fafnir weapon, scroll and get rest of gollux, do a ton of cubing, get emblem, badge, Cube SW accessories, tyrants

You're basically going to have to get new everything (cept your gollux stuffs, just scroll and cube them)
