The person you're in love with becomes mentally disabled

You're a teenager-young adult (17~28 I guess for a rough range), and you're in love with someone. You're not married (yet), and you were planning on moving in with each other. Something unfortunate happens, leaving the person you loved mentally disabled, and an entirely different person pretty much. Would you stay with them, or move on?

Don't be afraid to say what you'd really do.

If they're no longer the same person they were before, how could I still want to be with them them? I'd probably continue to help and care for them, and sure still love them, but obviously could no longer be in a relationship. I think a relationship consists of different factors, which both parties need to fulfill and if one party is mentally or physically unable to fill in particular factors then it can no longer be considered a relationship.
