tired of talking about college
I'm a senior in high school and it seems like all anyone wants to talk about in my class is college. This is reasonable and all, but it really gets old fast. I already know where I'm going and I like hearing where all my friends will be attending as well. However, it seems like we always talk in an endless circle of what we want to major in and blah blah. I mean the conversations are always so dull after that. "I want to major in this." All I can think of in my head is "Okay... where do we go from there?"
Also one think that really bothers me is all the commotion about standardized tests. It really disgusts me, for example, how some people seem to be taking their score and looking at it as if it is literally their value as a person. What's more is they do this to other people too, whether the score is high or low. I think your score is personal, and people should be more respectful when they ask you what it is.
Hell, I'm even sick of talking about what I'M majoring in.
I just wanted to vent. I don't know if people in college look back on this and see it any differently.. Or if they see it how I am at all.

TL;DR
Blue collar work is where it's at. 22$/Hour for manual labor. Back breaking, yes, but I get fit doing so.
[quote=Wanton]"whats your major"
"do you live around here?"
"oh cool, what do you like about your major"

but that's none of my business
scores will seem insignificant after high school, but they were, in fact, a significant contribution to why you got in.

The conversations in college get even worse.
Most of the conversations I have are about your major, where you're from, where you're currently living, and how stressed out you are/how badly you're doing in your classes.
Pretty sure one of my college essays were the cliche "numbers don't define you" with a little twist.
Anyhow, there's a pretty good video on youtube that highlights how stupid standardized tests are that I can't seem to find right now ):
well, you're a senior in high school, the college you attend & your major are probably one of the most important decisions you make that year of your life. It's understandable that people constantly talk about it. As for test scores, i guess people are just trying to separate themselves from one another/boost their own ego, it is high school after all. Status apparently means a lot to most teenagers.
And yes, as someone has pointed out, next year you'll be greeted by "hi, what's your major? oh yeah my name is ___ what's yours?"
your score is basically what you're viewed as by colleges. If your scores and marks are high you'll get in if they aren't then you're not worth anything to colleges and they won't accept you.
Props to you for picking a college already. I picked mine four months before classes started so you seem to be on top of things.
I've been in college for about half a semester and all people want to know is what your major is. It gets old fast, especially when people don't know what it is. I've lost count of how many times I've explained what Information Systems is to other people. You don't even get to the fun part of your major until, at earliest, sophomore year (unless you have credits from AP/Dual/summer classes) so you'll just be stuck in general History or English where the icebreaker to meet the person who happened to sit next to you is "what's your major?".
No one cares about SAT/ACT or what you did in high school once you're in college so you only have to endure it for a little bit longer. If the people who determine your value based on your SAT score are your friends, you probably don't want to be with them. I wish I could tell you the people in college are a bit more mature than that but sadly, that's not always the case.
wait till you're actually in college.
legit all you get are "whats yer major"
lol ur sat score is noob. u dumb, don't hang out wit me pls
