Why healthcare in the Us sucks
I found an interesting image on the internet and it is pretty cray.
My gf is going to be a doctor soon and I know making changes to the healthcare system would really screw with her already almost 200k student loan but daym look at the cost this 20 year old had to owe to the hospital, and this was with coverage.
What do you think about this situation?

the more correct term would be universal health care, where our tax payers dollars fund the health care system. So in a sense, it's not free but it's certainly a lot cheaper than the states

not really free but it is for for with the taxpayers money.
Most country are the same.
I still don't understand why so many are against universal health care system. This is a basic need that should be universal no matter your income and whether you have private insurance or not
It's been all over newspapers for a while now - after investigation, most of the costs are inexplicably hiked up by hospitals in the "price sheet" each hospital has, and no one has any idea why. Most experts believe it's because of the low regulation on healthcare; European pseudo-socialist governments impose a cost-efficiency and effectiveness requirement on pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies.
@hirrho Yes that image definitely makes you want to take better care of your body, and get some lucky charms such as a jade budha and a rabbit foot to rub on to ward off any bad luck.
@pannu26 Yess Canada is very good in that regards. Europe is very good too, healthcare is relatively cheap/taken care of by the state. But you can have a doctor who studied 10+ years making less than 100k a year...

All of my shock! I'm actually speechless right now. I'm the same age as that dude. I seriously hope I don't get ill. I'm working my way through college and couldn't even begin to imagine how I'd pay for that. -_-" Gah! How is this acceptable?
