Are Mage Shields even useful?

I was planning on making a Timeless Prelude, but are they even worth the effort?

Well, that's like saying "are earrings even useful"?
If they give good stats, then yes.

Anything that gives potential is good

I've got a 18 m att 11% int 3rd UWG shield. Worth it.

If you can afford to scroll Magic Att on it and cube it, then do it.
If not, wait for that patch and get a free Epic one with some Magic Att on it. The bad thing is you can't scroll it.

Yes. Get a 3rd, Last, or Vip Mage shield.

I was planning on using the epic potential scroll we're getting(from hot time) on a timeless prelude and hopefully replace my esther shield.
Honestly, if Nexon ever gets around to releasing hyper skills for Adventurers, by stats alone, the secondary weapons for everyone are better. However, no potential (I think).

So yes, if you get good potential on it.
Shields will be counted as secondary weapons as well with that update.

When they were released in KMS every 4th job character that gets a secondary weapon in the update (all mages included) get a free epic potential level 100 secondary weapon for their job.
