Embarrassing Nx Experiences
I remember there was a thread like us a few years ago. I want to laugh again...
I went to the 7-11 near my house, and I decided to spend $100 on NX. The cashier was quite snobby...but this wasn't my first time here. I used to buy NX quite often. He always rolled his eyes when he saw me and what not. Well one day, when I bought $100 of NX , the most I've bought ever, he tried to make a conversation. He was like: "so you like spending money on games, eh." "Oh goodness, if I had $100, I CANNOT IMAGINE. *Indian Accent* and then he makes this moaning sound...oOOOoo. He was like imagining what he could've done with $100 and it was as if he was going to hire a prostitute. Because of the conversation, it held up the line and everyone was looking at me... I awkwardly left.
What are your embarrassing experiences?

im at 7/11 and this stranger says to hes friend "eh... maplestory, stupid kid to play that dum game", his friend replys "w/e kid just needs a life" and i reply rudely "hey fatt (bad word), dont tell me things that i shouldn't do, cuz believe me when i tell you, that u play that game to score 11 year old girls". (hes like in his late 40s) Cashier stares at me blankly and im using my f6 face
@Rosencroft:
Yes, you are.
@sparkshooter: So do I, doesn't mean you have to ruin said topic.
OT: Must.Avoid.Eye.Contact <-- that's my tactic.
WOW that is like the oldest joke it was on the old thread, try being original instead of copying someones comment for likes.
Maybe they were telling the truth -_-
@sparkshooter:

What was the point of your post? What am I supposed to say? Yes.
@Dusk278:
You gotta do what you gotta do to not lose. I refuse to be wrong unless I realize it. And I just could not believe that she didn't use abbreviations herself.
@Echleon:
I like arguing.
Problem?
I stick to my opinions until I believe I'm wrong.
Stick to your opinions, but keep it out of this thread.
LOL I just buy a birthday card with it and if they ask I just say it's for my cousin.
Just buy a birthday card with your NX if you're that embarrassed to buy NX.
@sparkshooter: I never said that. I'm simply asking you where you're getting your numbers
On a side note: Common Sense isn't exactly "Common" anymore
Well, it's obvious. You don't need to know where I'm getting my numbers, it's true.
I always get this old lady like 70 something, and she just smiles everytime i come in, and then some other rlllly cute guy like 23 is there, and im like plz dont call me next dont call me!
And he calls me... And asked me if i wanted to join his guild in bellocan, but i said im in sca
Did he tell you the guild name or ign? Just curious since its in bellocan
@sparkshooter:
1. If it were viable today
2. I'm curious where you're getting your numbers
@looooooool: My point is that if someone said something to you, you most likely wouldn't give a quarter of a damn and since you find gentlemen like to generalize that must mean that NOBODY gives a quarter of said damn.
To change it? Yeah actually it does because I would have to hit 88 and tackle myself to the ground as I'm telling my first joke
So you're saying more than 50% of Maple is younger than kindergarten, or older than a senior in college? I highly doubt that. This is a matter of common sense, not exact statistics. Ask anyone around here.
I don't know, but yesterday I had my wallet at school, and I had my receipt still in there from when I bought a $50 Karma koin, I took my wallet out in class to get something, but the receipt fell out, one of my friends picked it up and asked what it was. I just took it off him and said I don't know.
The most recent nx tragety I've had was a few years ago.
I was walking to 7-11 and when I got there Im usually greeted by these Indian people but this time it was a white kid. I was kinda surprised but then I continued to get what I really came for. Nx. And so as I'm spending about 70 dollars on nx the boy looks at me snickers and continues to add all of the card together. After that I leave happily hoping I'll never see that guy again. But the next day I went to school to find out that was my crush's brother. He then started joking that "some weird chick bought game cards and wasted 70 bucks!" I then laughed to pretend like that was funny and I didn't go back to the seven eleven for about 2 years till my brother said he got fired or quit.
Yeah.. That's my nx story._.
Half of this thread is that raccoon mask guy and some other people arguing with each other.
bought it twice
guy at the counter said "whats it for?"
i said "its for a game called maplestory."
i dont see why u guys are embarrassed to say what u do
not like they gonna care anyway they probably just bored and if the casher does play and ask me what world im in im gonna proudly say
" My ign is Duckynater im at windia and im a sair who are u? "
if there in the same world as me i just got a new buddy
I always buy a birthday card when I buy NX, and I never go to the same cashier. I always go to the old or ugly cashiers
@Rosencroft:
1. Yes, buy 10 att wgs, and sell it at market price. Very easy nx to mesos conversion.
2. Most of Basil is 7-21 years old. Believe me.
@sparkshooter: Well you must have incredibly low self-esteem. Think of it this way: You're buying NX meaning you have disposable income. You have SO much money that you can literally just throw money into the wind and it not be a problem the next day. I wish I could do that
You still shouldn't be doing things like that to your customers. You are suppose to treat the customer better then you. The customer is always right on everything and if you want to have more of that customer buying your stuff or any customers for that matter. Then you need to learn some etiquette. You don't go around and shouting things about what the person does or is going to do. You don't go ask 20 questions about what the product they are buying is for and why they are buying it. You don't ask anything unless you either A.) You are best friends with that person or B.) They ask you for help on something.
If a random customer goes in and buys nx or condoms or w/e they choose to buy they shouldn't feel like they are going to go in for a exam. They should be able to buy what they want with out being asked about it. it is rude and stupid for the cashiers to meddle in someone's business that isn't yours. Do your job and don't slack off asking other people questions about what they are doing. Regardless if they have high self-esteem and do not really care about what you are saying or not. You arn't suppose to be doing that. That isn't what you been hired to do.
@Rosencroft:
1. Yes, you could be buying those 30 att face stompers, 10 att wgs, or some other stuff for funds.
2. I just finished my freshman year or high school. Most of Basil is still in education. A lot do sports.
3. They are supportive, just not in these areas. I certainly wouldn't tell my friends "keep up the good work" when they play ms or halo or w/e. And just because they ask "why" doesn't mean they aren't supportive.
@looooooool:
[*]Buying Online: He paid with a card everytime (Except for those rare occasions he payed with legal tender and once when he paid in dimes and quarters...)
[*]Going to another NX supplier: If he doesn't like the service go shop at another store. CLEARLY he had no problem with my interaction with him
[*]Have a friend buy it: "Force"? Now you're REALLY trying
@sparkshooter:
[*]Buying Online: He possess his own credit card.
[*]Going to another NX supplier: Honestly? If he doesn't like putting up with me? He could easily go in outside of my hours
[*]Have a friend buy it: Your friends are nosy
1. Still, prepaid nx has a lot more advantages. Old MTS, server/name changes, meso bags, etc.
2. Maybe he has a schedule and doesn't have much free time. I for one can only buy on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in the Morning IF I don't have school.
3. 95% of my friends would ask why I couldn't do it myself. It's not as if they're going to the store anyways. And it'd be awkward with the paying in cash. I don't like when I have to deal with money with my friends.
I went to shopper's drug mart and got 25k nx, the cashier looked at the card and was like" Thats really shiny, and cool looking" I was like, "yea.... Gotta support charity!" And never bought there again
@Rosencroft:
Buying online you need a credit card or paypal or something. It's usually with adults consent. Adults aren't too comfortable and plus you could be cough*sneakily*cough buying Nx.
He could've been too lazy. I have to walk far away because my parents refuse to drive me there. They're ok with me buying though. It's tiring for me. I wouldn't want to walk extra.
When I buy Nx I just walk in, try to tune out all sound and be as efficient as possible. But just because I'm quiet/don't react, doesn't mean I'm not embarrassed.
I'm sure most people don't go talking away their mouths when they're buying Nx.
I would never get a friend to buy Nx for me. Since they're close, they'll ask even more questions.
if its really that embarrassing... Then go to 7-11 (or any grocery store) Just get food and the cards. The employees won't say anything lol. However, its really not a big deal if anyone sees you buy the cards as its your money anyways.
This is why I go through the "self-checkout" register.
If only they had that where I buy nx. :L
@Rosencroft:
You can't prove that your customer wasn't scared. So If you aren't completely sure whether they like chatting, don't tease them at all.
a hot girl at food basics asked "whats this for?" and i replied..."for online gambling" she looked at me and shook her head as i walked away clenching my virginity as tight as possible...
I once scratched my card too much, then I couldn't see the code. So I went back and I asked if I could get a new one. They resealed the code on the damaged one and gave me a new card. Then I scratched it too hard again, so I went back.. They then scratched the card for me and wrote down the code on my refunded receipt.
At least they were patient.
That happened to me once but they lady said she wasn't allowed to or something ._.''
@sparkshooter: How do you know? Are you a mind reader? Can you read the minds of EVERY single person buying NX ever? (and if so can you teach me how to read minds?)
1 basil =/= all of them. Some of us actually have backbones
I'm a context reader. If I'm mistaken, don't make vague posts where you can't describe well.
@sparkshooter: Then how do you know that ISN'T what the buyer is thinking? I mean unless you are admitting to having the ability to read minds (and if so please teach me) You would have no way of knowing that. Besides, you used a general statement that the buyer (all buyers) don't think like that and it fell apart when one buyer gave you a contrary statement.
Like you said, why would he care about the comments of a cashier at 7/11?
Read this thread over. Tons of people have embarrassing experiences. Most people here are posting about a single question like "what is this for?".
And in what you posted, it can be inferred that he is quiet because he is scared, annoyed, or embarrassed.
My brother and i have become famous for going to this rite aid, very close to us. -10minute walk back and forth-.
I wish I had a store that sold NX that close to me. ._. it's always atleast a 20min drive. :[
I bought nx once annnnnndddddddddd its gone.
@Rosencroft:
What you think =/= What others think.
Plus, you said that the kid that you talked to always remain silent. I don't think it was a silence of happiness.
@Rosencroft:
Yeah that's not what the buyer is going to think.
@Rosencroft:
Well, I would be extremely embarrassed and annoyed at the time if someone shouted out that I was in a smega war, regardless of whether other people heard.
@achyif: Lol WELL you were the ones that started attacking me
You could have EASILY just read the comment and said "Well whatever, none of my business how he works", but no, You wanted to try and make me look like a jackass when in reality I just reasonably responded with experiences from my work (which you were indeed curious about).
I'm not bitter about anything. Actually I enjoyed my time working there, however I had to quit because It's almost time for me to run off to college. You can say whatever you want about it, but eventually your going to realize that it would be a serious waste of time to go back in time and tell a cashier at 7/11 that his work ethic is "wrong" (I mean you could go to the future and get a hover board! )
You are wrong to meddle with other people's businesses. An enjoy or have a nice is enough. There is absolutely no need to talk about how or why he uses his products. And yes you are a "jackass" for shouting out that a customer was shooting for a virtual pet with a ton of money.
@triiggerhappy: You wanna know what rude is? When kid's run around the store taking all kinds of snacks, bringing them up to the counter, and then when you total everything back up they realize "Crap... I don't have that much" (I've had a grown ass man do that to me before). Just one of my pet pevs really
My conversations with customers have never interfered with my work nor anyone else around me. It's a thing called "Time and Place" If the line is backed up I'm obviously not going to take time to talk to you. I'm going to ring you up, and send you on your marry way so you can post your epic video of you solo'ing Empress ("Legit" might I add).
People don't go to stores too buy things. They go to stores to be serviced. Service with a smile (no matter how fake) and a "Hey, we'll treat you right" kind of attitude really impacts them.
Honestly? I don't know why you two fine gentleman are criticizing me, but I will humor you can continue this little discussion about a job I no longer work at
*scribbles note to self*: never become a cashier. You will turn into a bitter @ hole who complains on forums about your times as one.
10/10 girl from my school works at shoppers.
18 at the time.
So I get up to the check out and hand her the card, she gives me this condescending look.
"Like, whats a Maplestory Loofan?"
At the same time I was also buying cat food, and just at that precise time my mind decided to take the biggest brainfart in the world.
"Oh, I don't know. Something my cat plays."
She gave me the most baffled look I've ever seen. I hadn't payed yet so I just walked out got in my car and left. Worst. moment. ever. I didn't even say a word, I was too embarrassed.
@TheAxelFenrir: wel man i wuz scured i i sayd thaat i plaid combet armz an i wantid moniy for gunz
LOL GIRLS ACTUALLY THINK MAPLE IS CUTE SO I WIN AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHA
seriously though, girls do not care if you play maplestory so boys don't be embarassed
@theonegod: Talking to people that actually nervously buy nx is literally like talking to a crack addict. One of my favorite customers was a guy that actually sweat while he was buying NX. Seriously when the guy walked out the door and went home it still smelled like he was there for a few hours...
You'd be surprised how many people would actually trust a complete and utter stranger with a uniform and a smile on to not criticize them. That's what people look for in a social interaction. Understanding. Honestly you can hate small talk like "How's your day?" or "How's the weather" but it's just polite to talk to people, makes them feel like they matter... (Spoiler: They don't...)
As a side note: If any of you guys ever came into my store (when I still worked there) I would most likely give you the straightest, fakest, smile I can conjure up and say "So you're looking to mod your combat arms character?". If you gave a complaint I assure you I wouldn't get fired and you would see me the next day
It's still stupid and rude for someone to do that. Your job isn't suppose to start social convos with the customers. Your job is suppose to help out the customers and ask questions if they need questions to be asked. You are suppose to just check out there products and then go on to the other customer. Not only is it rude to the customers but you are holding up the line where other customers need fast service. Think about the other side for once. People go to stores to buy thing snot to have social conversations with the workers. Unless you guys are good friend and what not there is no reason to start small talk. Just makes you look like a rude ass.
My friend and I buy NX together total was like 240$'s but he bought most of the NX I just bought like 100(STILL SO MUCH)
then they were like "So you guys going to spend this on maple?" so on so forth when we left they were like "Happy mapling" in a laughy-tone.
Cashier: Is this a gift card?
Me: .... Yes!
I went to my local Walgreens store, and I got about $50 worth of nx for my cousin and myself. Well the cashier was about 40 something and said to me "why do you play this junk, you could be doing so much better with your life" so i replied with this "Oh yea, like be working at a Walgreens at the age of 45 right? sounds great sign me up " He got the hint and never bugged me when i went to go buy NX ^^
I had a crush on the cashier who just smirked at me buying things for such immature games <3
The most awkward thing that happened was that one time I went to a 7-11 and got a $10 card. After he rung it up and I paid for it, he asked "What is that card for?" I was in a hurry to catch a bus on time so the first thing that came out of my mouth was "Yes", before I quickly walked out the door.
Took me a good 10 minutes afterwards to realize what I said.
There's this one employee at Zellers and she knows that I'm a regular customer because of my purchases of NX.
The third time I went to her for checkout, she have me this "why the f are you wasting so much money every week..." look.
(I only get about 25k each week... I don't know if that's a lot or not.)
And the other time I was at Zellers I gave the cashier coins (quarters, loonies, etc) to buy NX and she was anxiously counting away at my change...while I awkwardly wait with a long line behind me. o-o
I always buy my NX online.
So I bought 10k online a few months back for a name change
then I found out that I needed an NX card.
Ugh, same thing happened to me. Except it was for a world exchange. $50 just gone. I'm still kind of mad about it, too. =___=
OT: I buy online, so I don't have to deal with the chance of a friend seeing me.
If you have problems with your cashier that you see every time, next time you go to buy $100+ NX, pay them in all $1 bills. That will teach them
I did this except with a bag of quaters i got from the bank next door
