VMWARE Sorry this application cannot run on a vm.

okay so this morning when i got the hackshield update and all, i tried to run and the error "Sorry this application cannot run on a virtual machine" popped up. I've tried many ways and was wondering if any1 else got this issue on their mac or if they know a way to get around this. Thanks basil!

I just switched from VMWare Fusion to Parallels and it works. I dont know why but it does, so I suggest you all get parallels unless there is a 'fix' sometime soon

By that do you mean you got it to work after the most recent patch? If so, please do share .
People have reported that Parallels 5 and 6 do work.

You act like Macs are the only ones with this issue. I have a PC. I refuse to spend on cheap PC's when my PC has more than enough power to run over 6 VM's respectively. Also, you forget that the more PC's you have running, the higher your electricity bill is. If you COULD use what you have, like I can, what reason would I make more "cheap" Pc's for? Not to mention, after having a good PC, it's hard to go to a a crappier one as I hate the lag.
Oh I agree, for no lag, you absolutely need 1 good PC to play your main on. But to avoid the hassles of running VMs for a game that doesn't want to be run virtually (and, technically, can ban you for doing it), I just prefer a couple extra cheap (or free) PCs.

The extra pennies a month for electricity is a small price to pay for the convenience of having a couple extra independent computers that can be used for MS and whatever else you need them for (backup storage, whatever).
Is there no other possible way for mac users to play maplestory anymore? i spent so much money on this and now they screw me over ):
I suggest just getting a real computer, not a cutesy overpriced toy Mac. But, that's just my completely biased opinion!

But on topic, it looks like bootcamp might be your only option. If you don't like that option, PCs (unlike Macs) are obscenely cheap, so you could just cobble together a really cheap one that can run MS just fine.

I have 5 PCs (about to get a 6th) that were literally free that I use to play MS on with my mules on the weekends. And I'm not kidding about free- PCs are so cheap, that people literally just throw away or give away stuff that's a few years old (and more than fine for playing MS on). If a part is broken, it costs a few bucks to fix usually by visting your local Frys/Microcenter/whatever electronics store you have around you. Again, something you typically can't do with Macs.

So, you might want to look at cobbling together a cheap PC or 3 and you'll never have to worry about Mac compatibility again!

People who have macs have more money to waste so that means they probably get more NX. Come on Nexon, use your money-making sense before blocking them out! I am dissapoint Nexon.

I suggest installing an OS on another partition

you can try to bypass it (but thats considered hacking)

or use BootCamp, i think that will still work

EDIT: I'm having this problem too; might try bootcamp if nothing else works

aw. so worst case we might just have to run bootcamp

@mrjpfury: Macs aren't made for gaming. What an .exe is made up of is very different to what a .dmg (or whatever extension Macs use) is made up of. They'd need a new division to rewrite the game from scratch as well as to continuously rewrite the updates coming in from KMS. Too much money, too much trouble. Not worth it.

@christien: That would be called hacking. My guess is that we won't be seeing too many hacks for a while until this whole Hackshield thing is figured out again.
